Chocolate Emporium Creates Dairy-Free Confections in their Kosher Facility

It is hard for me to believe that it took me this many years to finally trial the delicious chocolates from Chocolate Emporium. As a kosher shop, all of their chocolates are Pareve and dairy-free!

Every chocolatier has their niche and in my opinion, Chocolate Emporium fills a very special one. Everything they make is for the dairy-free and kosher community, and they offer wide variety with supreme attention to detail. They have everyday chocolates and holiday treats, all perfectly molded, and some in cute, fanciful shapes. They taste delicious too!

I can’t cover everything they produce, but will give you a quick overview of their selection and what we’ve tried.

    Chocolate Bars

They have a modest collection of chocolate bars, including classic, peppermint, espresso, and crispy varieties. We tried the plain chocolate, which seemed to be a semi-sweet dark – perhaps around 60% cacao. It had a slight intense cocoa flavor, but was sweet enough to appeal to most taste buds. And it had a light, sweet, cocoa buttery aftertaste that was unique and truly enjoyable. It was the type of addictive chocolate you could easily and quickly devour.

    Holiday Shapes and Lollipops

They have different shapes for every holiday … Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc. But we tried some of their Halloween confections. My husband’s favorite was the Frankenstein, because “he looked so mean.” I on the other hand, went for a few of the more “adorable” dark chocolate lollies first. But then I couldn’t resist breaking into the spider lollipop. It was made with a dark chocolate spider and orange white chocolate web. Chocolate Emporium offers several white chocolate confections that they color and flavor to fit the occasion. My husband thought the white chocolate was a little sweet, but I really loved it. And it was a nice contrast to the darker chocolate.

    Chocolate Covered Treats

They have the classics, like peanut butter cups and chocolate-coated nuts and espresso beans. But we were seriously intrigued by the Chocolate Covered Sandwich Cookies. They are a chocolate lover’s delight. It was a standard Oreo cookie enrobed in a very thick blanket of semi-sweet dark chocolate. Pure deliciousness.

The only thing that caught me slightly off guard with this combination was the dark aftertaste of the chocolate. The Oreos are quite sugary and reminiscent of childhood, but the dark, slightly bittersweet, burst at the end was rather grown-up. Nonetheless, it was addicting and seriously decadent.

    Truffles

Now this is something special. When you open the beautiful box, you’re rewarded with the delightful sight of beautiful chocolates and truffles. Each truffle that we tried was enrobed in their smooth, dark chocolate – that isn’t too intense. The purely Chocolate flavor is filled with a soft and forgiving ganache, that’s quite thick. I enjoyed the rich consistency as it melted in my mouth like a deep, dark chocolate ice cream.

The other flavors were equally rewarding. They change their flavors from time to time, so not all that we tried are available at any given time. But our box included Chocolate, Raspberry, Rum, Irish Cream, Mocha, and Champagne. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I was quite infatuated with the Irish Cream.

We were blown away by this beautiful box of rich, decadent truffles! Each of the unique flavors got a thumbs up from us. I was especially amazed at the Irish Cream variety, the added sweet creaminess put it over the edge. It was so dreamy. Overall, these truffles would make a perfect gift for friends with allergies, dietary restrictions, or anyone who loves a good truffle!
