Updated August 2023! It’s wonderful to see a widely distributed brand come out with dairy-free options, and Country Crock released several of them! They launched plant-based buttery sticks and plant-based buttery spread tubs, which are each currently available in two varieties. In this post, I’m covering the Country Crock Plant Butter Tubs in detail, but you can read about and rate the sticks on this other post.
Country Crock Plant Butter Tubs in Two Dairy-Free Varieties
At first, I assumed that Country Crock’s Plant Butter Sticks were the best option for baking. But they state that Country Crock Plant Butter Tubs are “excellent for cooking, baking, and spreading” too. However, these product lines do have different formulas. The tubs contain soy oil, while the sticks do not, and the tubs are made with faba bean protein instead of pea protein, like the sticks. So I suspect your preference will come down to taste or dietary need, rather than the packaging.
The two tubs, or “buttery spreads” as I like to call them, are almost identical. But one has a splash of avocado oil, and the other olive oil.

Delicious avocado sticks!
Delicious avocado sticks that taste amazing like butter. As long as they continue have health benefits without chemical additives, I will continue to buy. Thank you!
Surprised and Amazed
I bought the sticks with avacado oil, and I went in expecting them to not be the greatest but I’m always willing to give something a try. The taste is amazing, exactly like butter. Cooks and bakes great, I am a believer!
Surprised that it’s Country Crock
This spread surprised us. It was available in our local grocery store. Very buttery taste. It melted on an ear of corn and I really couldn’t tell the difference between that and real butter. I had it on bread with soup and it was delicious, creamy and easy to spread. I highly recommend this product!
More buttery than DAIRY BUTTER?!
Okay guys, this is crazy. I bought this to help start my transition to plant based. It smells just like butter and even tastes more buttery than my usual butter. I dont know how they did this, but everyone should switch. It is way better than the original.
my experience
we bought this a few days ago and i was a little leary, but, when i tried it on my sour dough toast, wow, I love it, i honestly can not tell the difference and trust me im a butter lover all my life, so, i was expecting my ho hum taste buds but, this was completely different, it has that sweet cream taste and buttery smoothness granted the calories are not low but the taste is high
Trying it for free.
I received a coupon at HEB for a free tub or the sticks. I chose the sticks with almond oil. While I’m working on lowering my cholesterol and eating better, I find this to be a great addition. The taste is smooth and no one will notice the difference from other butters.
Taste great, it’s good for you and reasonably priced.
A definite winner for me.
Excellent
I’m trying to go dairy free for my IBS, I wasn’t sure it’s all the oils if this would work. So far so good. I put some on my toast and didn’t notice the difference. Now I’m hoping it will work. Nice that it’s a lot less than other spreads.
Good Taste
I tried the Country Crock with Almond Oil. Love the product but since it didn’t actually say “vegan” on the container I was concerned there might be some sneaky ingredient. But after some research, I found it is vegan so I’m happy. Would be nice if it said it on the package but that’s my only complaint. Will also be trying the other varieties and sticks. Thank you
