Culina Botanical Yogurt Plants Itself in the Healthy Dairy Alternative Market

    0
By Alisa Fleming on April 29, 2019 Dairy-Free Yogurt Reviews, Product Reviews

Sprouting from the vegan AND paleo movements, Culina Botanical Yogurt is dairy-free, made with simple ingredients, and packaged in an actual flowerpot. It’s a “craft-fermented” line of coconut yogurt with a low sugar, no funny business label that is sure to attract food purists.

Culina Botanical Yogurt Alternative Review and Information - dairy-free, vegan, healthy, probiotics and naturally cultured. See this post for ingredients, availability, ratings, and more.

Culina Botanical Yogurt Plants Itself in the Healthy Dairy Alternative Market

This rich dairy-free yogurt isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s super-thick consistency attempts to rival the mouthfeel and versatility of Greek yogurt. But it is much higher in fat (from the coconut base) and very low in protein. Nonetheless, it’s cultured with live and active probiotics and is very modest in sugars.

Hi and Happy Monday! I have eaten Lavva Original for years- but it is no longer available where I live. I have switched to Culina because it seems to be the cleanest and closest I can get to Lavva. It’s truly delicious- but completely different. Alisa, can you please explain the difference between the two from a nutrition standpoint and any other standpoint you can… I’m very intrigued and eager to hear your thoughts. I’ve never been a yogurt eater- until I needed to get some food and probiotics in me and yogurt appealed to me more than pills and “real” food. I have ended up enjoying Lavva and have stuck with it ever since. I’m looking forward to your thoughts.

As far as taste, every Culinary flavor I have tasted has been delicious.

    Response from Go Dairy Free

From a basic nutrient standpoint, the two are similar. Culina is higher in fat, with more coconut cream, which can also increase the MCT amount (many people are interested in MCT fats these days). Culina’s plain is very low sugar, putting it on par with Lavva. If you’re on a keto-type diet, Culina might fit just a bit better, since it is quite high fat and low carb, but Lavva is still a low carb option. If counting calories, Culina is much higher. In terms of other nutritional merits, both products are coconut heavy. But there is one thing that intrigues me about Lavva – it contains plantains and cassava, which I have read are good prebiotics. Prebiotics reportedly help stimulate the growth of probiotics in our gut, which would mean this is a more synergistic food overall. Lavva also boasts very high probiotics, which could be beneficial for gut health.

Absolutely horrible taste and texture!! Texture is having flour on my tongue and taste is like having some vinegar taste!!!

I bought the plain one and added sugar.

I’m a huge fan of Lavva Original- but this stuff is really, really good! It makes a great snack with a banana and some walnuts. I have enjoyed every flavor I have tried – which I can’t say about Lavva.

I just hope all this coconut fat is really ok for us…

    Bourbon Vanilla

Absolutely amazing! Mind you, I haven’t had dairy yogurt in probably almost 4-5 years, but prior to that, I ate yoplait quite regularly. The bourbon Vanilla culina yogurt reminded me so strongly of the yoplait thick& creamy vanilla that I grew up eating. I loved the taste and the texture was so similar to real yogurt. The ingredients are fabulous as well! No hint of a coconut taste.

I did even try this “frozen” as frozen yogurt – it was amazing. I highly recommend this.

I am so happy to find this yogurt. The best vegan yogurt I’ve found after living in the US for four years. And finally a non sweetened flavour for savoury dishes. I just wish the bigger jar was available in more stores!! The vanilla and peach flavours are amazing too!
