Dear Coco Artisan Chocolate Truffles (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on January 13, 2013 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

I was so sad when Dear Coco shuttered there doors. They were truly one of the best! But there are many other dairy-free chocolatiers to praise. See our Dairy-Free Chocolate Reviews for numerous options. If your looking for gift-worthy chocolate specifically, see our Dairy-Free Chocolate Holiday Gift Guide and our Dairy-Free Valentine Chocolate Guide.

Dear Coco Artisan Dairy Free Chocolate TrufflesJust when I think that dairy-free chocolate offerings couldn’t get any better, Dear Coco arrives on my doorstep. The charming “special delivery” packaging begged to be opened and the detailed “which truffle is which” insert provoked me to sample my first truffle immediately.

I’m not exaggerating in the least bit when I say that every, single Dear Coco truffle was AMAZING. Rich, decadent fillings enrobed in a very thick layer of pure dark chocolate, and infused with the most heavenly flavors imaginable.

Tasting Notes for Dear Coco Artisan Chocolate Truffles

I actually got about six truffles into the Dear Coco “Around the World Collection” on my own, because Tony had no interest … at first. But when his chocolate cravings hit their peak, he broke down and requested a truffle. After one little bite, he turned around, walked back to the box, and said, “I’ll take that one, too.” When I asked what gives, he said, “I didn’t expect them to be this good!” (Note: He sampled the peppermint and espresso flavors)

Rather than give a play by play on each flavor, because there are so many to choose from, I’ll share my absolute favorites …

Dear Coco Artisan Dairy Free Chocolate Truffles

    Bananas Foster

This was the first truffle that I grabbed – I’d literally been waiting for a banana truffle! Dear Coco didn’t disappoint. The very soft center was rich with the most heavenly warm banana flavor.

    Masala Chai

You can’t keep me away from anything labeled “chai,” and I thought Dear Coco executed this theme beautifully. This truffle had the perfect balance of spices.

    Lime

A surprising top pick, the unique bright lime flavor was a perfect match for the dark chocolate background.

    Mauna Loa Salted Caramel

This Dear Coco flavor was more intensely chocolate than expected, but still amazing. Salted chocolate is one of my new loves, and the caramel notes only served to escalate the experience.

Two of my other favorites came from the “Aussie Box”. Seriously, I think these flavors should be added to a permanent Dear Coco collection!

    Ginger

This flavor blew me away. It’s intense, warm, and delicious. A ginger lover’s delight.

    Sea Salt

Dark chocolate with sea salt – what’s not to love?

Wow, those are so beautiful! I’m usually not one for snacking on pure chocolate, but I would make an exception for these.
