While they aren't going to be in my cupboard (I'm not a cheesy cracker consumer) this dairy-free alternative definitely got top marks from our resident Cheez-It loving taste-tester, who was hard-pressed to tell the difference. I like that they are also made with all-natural ingredients (unlike the originals).

Earth Balance is the long-reigning king of non-hydrogenated dairy-free margarine, but I never imagined they would become a unique and cheesy snack maker for the vegan industry, too. My first impression was “good”, but I’m not a cheese-it fanatic, so I went to our resident teen expert. Kylie adores Cheez-its and said that the flavor of Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Squares was just like them. “If you didn’t tell me, I may not have known they were different!”, she proclaimed. But with knowledge in hand, she did say that the texture was just a touch different – the traditional are a little flakier / crisper, while these have more of an earthy cracker consistency.
