eatCLEAN Organic Vegan Whole Food Bar is a Functional Find

By Alisa Fleming on August 20, 2014 Dairy-Free Energy, Granola & Snack Bar Reviews, Product Reviews

Hefty, fulfilling and pleasantly sweet are the first words that came to mind after I polished off my first eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar from Trace Minerals.

I’ve been a fan of Trace Minerals electrolyte drinks since I first sampled them a few years ago. So I was intrigued when I saw their new eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar.

eatCLEAN Vegan Whole Food Bar Review (dairy-free, gluten-free, organic)

eatCLEAN Organic Vegan Whole Food Bar is a Functional Find

As expected from such a nutrition-focused company, the eatCLEAN bar is the epitome of functional food. This hefty snack blends energizing and sustainable organic foods (like almond butter, dates, flax sprouts, quinoa sprouts, and sesame seeds) with organic brown rice protein and their proprietary trace mineral complex for a complete package of protein, healthy fats, fiber, minerals, and fruit sugars. Each eatCLEAN bar even boasts 10% of the RDA for calcium and iron, but remains low-sodium.

The texture of eatCLEAN is somewhat of a classic energy bar. Each bite is soft, just a little chewy, thick, and relatively smooth. The sprouted additions added nice textural interest.

In terms of taste, eatCLEAN is sweet, but not too sweet. Hints of tapioca syrup compliment and enhance the dates and raisins rather than turning the bar into a sugar fest. Dairy-free chocolate chips add melty, sporadic little surprises of deliciousness.

Though I typically prefer bars with less overall sugars, I wasn’t left with that post “candy bar” after enjoying one for breakfast. Rather, it kept me going for 3 solid hours! It also left me satisfied rather than longing for sweets (a side effect I sometimes suffer with nutrition bars!).

Making a solid entry into the competitive bar market, this on-the-go mini-meal offers substantial, sustainable energy. With a base of almond butter and dates, the flavor is pleasantly sweet yet satisfying. I loved the addition of sprouted flax, sprouted quinoa, and chocolate chips; fitness buffs will like that they add brown rice protein and trace minerals.

Awesome!!! 😀 Can’t wait to try this bar! I’ve been a vegan for 3 years and a vegetarian for 12 years before that & I feel better than ever. It’s great to see that world is slowly starting to change & become more conscious of what’s truly going on in the meat and dairy industry. I love reading posts from like minded individuals!! 🙂
