Millions of us have adored Enjoy Life Cookies for years. Allergen-free or not, they’re just darn good. And now Enjoy Life Minis have emerged for an easy treat on the go!
Enjoy Life Minis are two-bite versions of the larger Enjoy Life cookies. They come in single-serve packs that can easily be popped into lunch boxes and apparently grabbed by husbands for breakfast. Thank goodness they come in those portion-controlled little bags, otherwise I think Tony might eat his weight in mini cookies before lunch.
I toyed with rolling the Enjoy Life Minis into my other Enjoy Life Cookie Reviews, but discovered that these little guys are ever so slightly different from their bigger cousins. They are similar, but the formulas have just a few variations for successful baking in a smaller format.
(Please note that their packaging has changed since I wrote this post. It is now teal, like the package shown with the ingredients in this post.)
Soft-Baked Enjoy Life Minis
Chocolate Chip
These were very tasty with the perfect smattering of very mini chocolate chips and a pleasantly sweet flavor. However, the batch I received was thick and crunchy, not soft in the slightest.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), chocolate chips (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), brown sugar, water, date paste, expeller pressed safflower oil, vegetable glycerin, brown rice syrup, palm shortening, natural flavor, xanthan gum, salt, vanilla extract, leavening (baking soda, cream of tartar), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 120 calories, 5g fat, 19g carbs, 1g fiber, 10g sugars (includes 4g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Double Chocolate Brownie
A touch more forgiving to the bite, and slightly tender, but these cookies were still not soft. The flavor was more sweet “cocoa” than fudge, so not my top pick. But I immediately thought they would be good for young taste buds. As it turned out, I was right. Both the young (my friend’s 8 year old son) and young at heart (Tony) loved these.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), chocolate chips (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), brown sugar, water, date paste, expeller pressed safflower oil, vegetable glycerin, natural cocoa powder, palm shortening, natural flavor, xanthan gum, salt, vanilla extract, leavening (baking soda, cream of tartar), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 120 calories, 5g fat, 18g carbs, 2g fiber, 10g sugars (includes 4g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Snickerdoodle
As one might expect, this flavor was the most tender of the bunch. They grazed the definition of “soft”, but still weren’t there in terms of the texture in the full-sized cookies. Nonetheless, the potent cinnamon against a sugary sweet, full-flavored cookie made me swoon.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), water, date paste, cane sugar, safflower oil, vegetable glycerin, brown sugar, palm shortening, natural flavor, cinnamon, vanilla extract, salt, xanthan gum, leavening (baking soda, cream of tartar), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 120 calories, 4g fat, 20g carbs, 1g fiber, 10g sugars (includes 6g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Crunchy Enjoy Life Minis
Double Chocolate
If I didn’t know better, I’d say they were the same cookies as the Soft-baked Double Chocolate Brownie. Wait, they are the same cookies! The ingredients and nutrition facts are identical and they have the exact same look, shape, flavor, and semi-crunch. I’m not sure if the batches simply got mixed, or they haven’t perfected the different baking techniques to create unique textures.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), cane sugar, chocolate chips (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), palm shortening, water, natural cocoa powder, natural flavor, salt, vanilla extract, xanthan gum, leavening (baking soda), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 150 calories, 8g fat, 19g carbs, 1g fiber, 11g sugars (includes 8g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Chocolate Chip
These were a mixed bag in shape, with some thick and some thin, but all were definitely crunchy. I loved the sweet “Tollhouse” flavor with ample dots of mini chocolate chips.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), cane sugar, chocolate chips (cane sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter), palm shortening, water, natural flavor, salt, vanilla extract, xanthan gum, leavening (baking soda), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 150 calories, 8g fat, 19g carbs, 1g fiber, 11g sugars (includes 8g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Sugar Crisp
Obviously I was in need of a sugar hit when taste-testing as I adored these sugary sweet cookies. They were slightly thick, but still relatively flat and nicely crunchy.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), cane sugar, palm shortening, water, natural flavors, salt, vanilla extract, xanthan gum, leavening (baking soda), konjac, rosemary extract.*
Nutrition (per 1-ounce pouch): 150 calories, 8g fat, 20g carbs, 1g fiber, 11g sugars (includes 11g added sugars), 1g protein.*
Honey Graham
This was the first variety of Enjoy Life Minis that I sampled as they’re perfect with my Dairy-Free Cheesecake Dip. But for some reason, they were the last ones trialed in our official taste-testing. They have a definite graham cracker vibe, but are a little sweeter with a nice cookie crunch.
Ingredients: flour blend (brown rice, sorghum, buckwheat), cane sugar, palm shortening, water, natural flavors, vanilla extract, salt, xanthan gum, leavening (baking soda), organic honey, konjac, rosemary extract.*
