Holiday and football parties are on the horizon, which means sour cream will be a staple on many menus. Luckily, Forager Project has launched a dairy-free sour cream that I think will please most picky consumers. Unlike other vegan sour cream alternatives, Forager Project Dairy-Free Sour Cream is cultured for a more authentic flavor, thicker consistency, and probiotic boost.
According to the company, this sour cream substitute can seamlessly cover every dip, potato, and Mexican food need. It’s reportedly rich, creamy, and tangy – just like the real deal. But you be the judge! Be sure to leave your own review and rating below when you try it.

Forager Project Cashew Sourcing
A Go Dairy Free reader recently expressed concerns about human rights violations in the cashew industry. I’m not an expert on this topic, but Forager has addressed their cashew sourcing.
Cashews are one of Forager Project’s key ingredients, and the company searched far and wide to find cashews that meet its strict standards: organic, ethically sourced, and sustainably farmed. Sourcing from Vietnam, Forager Project works with small farming cooperatives who care deeply about their workers and who produce the highest quality of cashews available

Best plant Based Sour Cream
This is delicious in taste and texture. The only vegan sour cream I will will ever buy.
Best sour cream alternative I have tried
Vegan for over 3 years now, and this is my favorite sour cream by far. I recommend that it is stirred WELL before using. I do not taste a coconut flavor, just the tang of a sour “cream.” Cleaner ingredients than tofutti, which is important to me. Sure, it’s not as thick as the dairy option, but I find that it is less runny when mixed WELL. (I can’t stress that enough.)
not good
This stuff has a weird, runny yogurt consistency and smells just like plain coconut yogurt. It is def more of a yogurt texture than sour cream – and I don’t want that on my nachos, burritos, chili, etc. If someone would have had me try this, not knowing what it is, I would 150% have said it’s yogurt. Just, really bland yogurt. I’ll stick to my trusty Tofutti sour cream.
Strong coconut taste
Awful! Purchased for burritos and all everyone said was this tastes like you added coconut to the burritos. Might be good with a sweet potato or a meal where coconut is part of the flavor profile. Otherwise, I do not recommend. Tofutti makes a great dairy free sour cream. We’re going back to that!
Great taste.
I can’t read the expiration date clearly though. Please tell me approximate expiration timeline, after purchase. Thanks
Response from Go Dairy Free
You would need to contact the company and provide them with the lot number on the container. There isn’t a set timeline from purchase.
Doesn’t taste of much
This stuff is white and that’s where any resemblance to sour cream ends. No flavor, very thick and GLoppy. If you’re dairy free this is that, but frankly, doing without is more attractive.
Creamy Sour Cream Replacement!
I love that fact that this product is lower in fat than so many others on the market. I feel like I can enjoy my tacos and nachos SO much more with Forager’s Sour Cream. I like that it is a bit looser than traditional sour cream. The looser texture makes for less waste and no over-powering taste from it being globbed onto your food.
Coconut Sour Cream
I’m not sure what they’re thinking with this one. Hard to taste anything besides coconut which really limits what you can use it with. Ended up throwing it away due to expiration.
Wrong
I wanted to like this! The taste isn’t terrible however the gelatin like consistency is undeniable.
Love that there's probiotics
I think this is a great option for making dips or dressings. The texture is probably not as thick as I’d like and maybe lacks a little tang but putting a little bit of vinegar in the mix helps that. For something vegan, organic, without oil and crazy additives this is more than OK!
