Frönen Dairy-Free Ice Cream Ditches Bananas for Creamy New Base

    0
By Alisa Fleming on August 12, 2022 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

It’s been a few years in discussions, but the founders of Fronen finally decided to shift from a banana-based nice cream to a rich and pure coconut cream base. Their goal has always been to create a dairy-free ice cream line that’s easy on the stomach and made with pure natural ingredients. The reformulation stays true to this mission, but brings more attention to the flavors and consistency.

2022 Fronen Product & Formula Changes

Fronen ditched the banana, letting coconut cream take center stage as their ice cream base. This did increase the calories, fat, and saturated fat in each serving. But, it helps to create a creamier, less fruity product, closer to traditional ice cream. They also discontinued their Banana Coconut, Cinnamon, and Peanut Butter Fudge flavors. All of the information above has been updated for the new formula.

    Additional Allergen Notes*

According to the company, all of their products are manufactured on lines that process dairy and other tree nuts (besides coconut). Before and after each production run, the machinery is cleaned and then tested to ensure there is no allergen residue on it. After their ice cream is manufactured, it is also tested for allergens to ensure there is no cross contamination. That being said, they cannot guarantee there are no allergen particles in the air in the facility. If you are severely allergic, they recommend not eating their ice cream to be safe.

The best non dairy ever. So clean and so tasty. I got it at my local Whole Foods in Chicago. The mint chip was very refreshing!

Tried the Madagascar vanilla and it was the grossest ice cream I’ve ever tried. And I’ve tried a lot of not dairy ice cream at this point. Such a disappointment.

I just tried the salted caramel flavor, and it is amazing! It tastes like tiramisu and is the best ice cream I’ve had since going dairy and gluten free 9 years ago. I can’t believe it only has 4 ingredients. I tried the strawberry a few days ago, and at first it was very hard to get it out of carton. After letting the whole carton sit out for 15-20 minutes, it was much easier to scoop, and it tasted delicious as well.

I stumbled upon this tonight while looking, hoping for a more natural ice cream amidst all the “junk”.

I chose the strawberry and was pleasantly surprised!

Thank you for making a treat with all natural ingredients = ]

    Tastey and good

I love this stuff. I’ve tried chocolate, strawberry, and mint chip. The chocolate has a banana flavor in it which I LOVE. I’ve been waiting for this ice cream flavor my whole life. It’s fudgy and good. The strawberry tastes like summer. It’s so hard to find non dairy strawberry ice cream. And the mind chip is very minty but not toothpastey.

When I first got them home from the frozen walmart freezer they where quite stiff and I was unsure, but after being in my freezer they are now perfect in texture and I never want to eat anything else. If it’s unscoopable it’s because your freezer (or the store’s) was way too cold. I hate having to put ice cream on the counter to soften and I don’t have to with this after being in a normal temperature freezer.

Peanut Butter was a solid block

I wanted to love it, but the texture was so weird. It was totally un-scoopable, un-spoonable and stubbornly didn’t want to leave it’s container.

I ended up slicing off pieces with a knife! Not the ice cream experience I was looking for! And no, I don’t want to just use it in a smoothie, or to have to microwave it to get it to cooperate. I would just like a nice bowl of creamy cold deliciousness.

But anyway, it did taste good and I will definitely try the other flavors to see if the texture is better because I totally appreciate the simplicity of 4-5 ingredients.

Bought both the cinnamon and chocolate…cinnamon pint was nearly inedible, chocolate not far behind. Huge waste of nearly $8 each for me. Stayed in back of freezer for month until finally just threw them both away (nearly uneaten). Appreciate the small natural ingredient list (so a star for that)- but unfortunately taste, consistency, flavor, and mouth feel fell way flat. Not recommended-when there are tastier alternatives out there.

    Response from Go Dairy Free

If you have issues with frozen dessert you buy (it happens!) salvage it by blending into smoothies. Usually it provides a good base, even if the ice cream itself isn’t to your taste. And it prevents the waste on expensive trials!

LOVE IT! My daughter has been looking for a GOOD vegan mint ice cream, she and I think it’s the best so far. If you don’t like super dark chocolate, you won’t like the chips, I Love it!! Plus, lower I’m sugar and fats. Also, don’t expect creamy, but SO GOOD!!

Just tried this the peanut butter flavor for the first time and definitely exceeded my expectations! So smooth, lightweight and creamy. If you like peanut butter, this certainly gives you a full flavor taste! This could be my new go to treat!
