Frönen Dairy-Free Ice Cream Ditches Bananas for Creamy New Base

    0
By Alisa Fleming on August 12, 2022 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

It’s been a few years in discussions, but the founders of Fronen finally decided to shift from a banana-based nice cream to a rich and pure coconut cream base. Their goal has always been to create a dairy-free ice cream line that’s easy on the stomach and made with pure natural ingredients. The reformulation stays true to this mission, but brings more attention to the flavors and consistency.

2022 Fronen Product & Formula Changes

Fronen ditched the banana, letting coconut cream take center stage as their ice cream base. This did increase the calories, fat, and saturated fat in each serving. But, it helps to create a creamier, less fruity product, closer to traditional ice cream. They also discontinued their Banana Coconut, Cinnamon, and Peanut Butter Fudge flavors. All of the information above has been updated for the new formula.

    Additional Allergen Notes*

According to the company, all of their products are manufactured on lines that process dairy and other tree nuts (besides coconut). Before and after each production run, the machinery is cleaned and then tested to ensure there is no allergen residue on it. After their ice cream is manufactured, it is also tested for allergens to ensure there is no cross contamination. That being said, they cannot guarantee there are no allergen particles in the air in the facility. If you are severely allergic, they recommend not eating their ice cream to be safe.

I am obsessed with this ice cream. The ingredients are the best and I do not feel bloated after eating it which is a first for me. The Chocolate is so rich and creamy. I also love the Peanut Butter. Top it with some fresh fruit and it’s like a sundae. 10/10.

Incredibly bad taste, consistency: mom will return it

My mom bought the strawberry frozen dessert as a dairy free alternative, eve tough my expectations were low it still was horrible, she hated it too, everyone hated it and will return it. The macros are considerably better than nearly all ice cream, so if you don’t care about the taste so much as the frozen dessert aspect go for it.

    Finally, strawberry ice cream!

I recently found out I’m basically allergic to everything and was desperately missing strawberry ice cream. My husband bought me Fronen on a whim and I have to say I am so happy! I nearly ate the whole container out of joy. Maybe it is not the creamiest thing in the world, but what the strawberry Fronen lacks in smoothness, it makes up in flavor. I adore this ice cream. It doesn’t make me sick, break out in hives, or upset my stomach. It tastes incredible and I don’t have to worry about what its made of. I love it and could eat ten gallons. Thank you, whoever invented this, for making my day. I was getting quite limited in my dessert selection and this is just a little ray of hope. 🙂

Not Not good… had high hopes. Tastes like chalk, smells like chicken and peas! My husband is not picky but took one bite and put it back in the freezer. I say, stick with the ice creams that have chemicals, your body can filter that stuff just fine on its own. And its tasty.

Not Perfect, but great AIP/Paleo option

    Rated 4 out of 5
    March 8, 2021

LOVE the AIP + Paleo compliant ingredients! Previously my go-to was Coconut Bliss. I still think CB is creamier and has a flavor closer to normal ice cream, but they also sweeten with agave syrup, use gums for consistency, and have other small things here and there which strict AIP (autoimmune protocol) consumers just can’t have. I don’t have to worry about any of that with Fronen!

So far I have only tried the Madagascar Vanilla. In my opinion the honey overwhelms the vanilla flavor, hence only 3 stars. I wish they had sweetened with coconut sugar and maple syrup instead, or even just added more vanilla. It is still a pleasant flavor, though. The consistency is a bit icy, but impressively creamy. In my book the pros outweigh the cons, and Fronen is my new go-to! I look forward to trying other flavors soon!

I really can’t get enough of this stuff… it is so good. I think the peanut butter is outrageous! It’s definitely richer than the others… but so good. Try them all- and follow the directions and let it sit out for a bit. Yum!!
