It’s with a heavy heart that I report the discontinuation of all Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Ice Cream. For options that are currently available, see our Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews.
There isn’t, nor has there ever been, a dairy-free ice cream quite as indulgent and delicious as Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert. They truly broke the mold with these formulas. Yes, formulas – unlike most other brands, no two flavors are alike.
Most dairy-free ice cream brands use a single ice cream base and then add flavors for variations. This causes every flavor to have underpinnings of coconut, almond, soy, or whatever the main ingredient is. But Haagen Dazs uses the flavor as the ice cream base for each individual variety. The Chocolate and Mocha flavors use rich melted chocolate, the Peanut Butter flavor uses peanuts, the Amaretto uses almonds, and the Coconut Caramel flavor uses coconut cream. This technique results in unparalleled taste profiles.
Tasting Notes for Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert
There’s nothing modest about Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Ice Cream. Each pint boldly proclaims it’s decadence with every flavor-packed bite. I’ve added the nutrition facts to this post, since that is our current format, but don’t look. It’s dessert, straight up. Just enjoy it. And unlike most other dairy-free options, one serving of this surprisingly vegan ice cream really does satisfy. In fact, I often have less than a serving!
And do not let the “water” ingredient confuse you. Technically, water is the first ingredient in dairy ice cream, too (heavy dairy cream is about 60% water and whole milk is about 87% water). But cream isn’t required to be broken out that way on food labels – it’s classified as a single ingredient. On dairy-free labels, the water is listed separately and must be used to make a “cream” with the key ingredients. You can’t simply grind peanuts and get ice cream – a liquid must be added!
I’ve updated this post with all of the current creamy flavors of Haagen Dazs Dairy-Free Ice Cream. Unfortunately, the Non-Dairy flavors of TRIO Crispy Layers were discontinued.
Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle
This is really two desserts in one. The deep, rich, pure chocolate ice cream base is generously dotted with sizable chunks of fudge. We didn’t really note the salted fudge swirl specifically, but I could tell from the intense flavor that it was perfectly salted. This sweet flavor is any chocoholic’s dream, dairy free or not.
Ingredients: water, sugar, corn syrup, belgian chocolate, cocoa processed with alkali, soy lecithin, pectin, vanilla extract, salt. Salted fudge swirl: powdered cane sugar (cane sugar, corn starch), sunflower oil, cocoa, salt, sunflower lecithin. Fudge truffles: sugar, soybean oil, coconut oil, cocoa processed with alkali, cocoa, natural flavor, soy lecithin. Contains: soy ingredients.
Nutrition (per 2/3 cup): 360 calories, 15g fat, 54g carbs, 5g fiber, 38g sugars (includes 37g added sugars), 3g protein.*
Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge
True peanut butter fans, like myself, will swoon over the intense pb flavor. Ribbons of peanut butter and fudge up the ante on this sweet frozen dessert that has a surprisingly unique consistency. The peanut butter base isn’t as smooth and creamy as the others, but has a cookie meets ice cream mouth feel that is irresistible in its own right.
Ingredients: water, corn syrup, sugar, peanuts, peanut oil, coconut oil, pectin, salt. Salted fudge swirl: powdered cane sugar (cane sugar, corn starch), sunflower oil, cocoa, salt, sunflower lecithin. Contains: peanut ingredients.

Coconut Caramel
Unabashedly coconut, this creamy ice cream has rich swirls of caramel sauce throughout.

Amaretto Black Cherry Almond Toffee
This is the newest non-dairy flavor, which was released as a part of their “spirits” line. But it’s only a little boozy with just .5% alcohol. I really didn’t expect to like this flavor, but it is just as rich and delicious as every other pint of Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy Ice Cream. In fact, it’s my husband’s new favorite.
Ingredients: water, corn syrup, sugar, almonds, sunflower oil, brown sugar, cherries, coconut oil, pectin, cherry juice concentrate, salt, lemon juice concentrate, natural flavors, baking soda, amaretto. contains: almond ingredients.
Nutrition (per 2/3 cup): 320 calories, 12g fat, 49g carbs, 2g fiber, 32g sugars (includes 32g added sugars), 3g protein.*
Mocha Chocolate Cookie (might be Discontinuing)
This flavor is still in stores, but is no longer on the Haagen Dazs website. I’m really not a coffee fan. I tolerate creamy, sweet coffee desserts, like dairy-free mud pie. But the bold espresso finish in this flavor of Haagen Dazs Non-Dairy is really for java lovers. Tony enjoyed it, and didn’t have a problem keeping this pint for himself. The cookies are crushed for easier eating, and create a lovely coffeehouse infusion.
Ingredients: water, sugar, corn syrup, belgian chocolate, cocoa processed with alkali, soy lecithin, pectin, coffee, vanilla extract. Chocolate cookie swirl: soybean oil, powdered cane sugar, chocolate cookie crumb (wheat flour, cane sugar, canola oil, cocoa processed with alkali, salt, baking soda), cocoa processed with alkali, salt, soy lecithin. Chocolate cookie pieces: wheat flour, sugar, coconut oil, cocoa processed with alkali, chocolate, baking soda, salt. Contains: wheat and soy ingredients.

The BEST
This stuff is amazing. I’ve taste-tested dozens of dairy-free ice creams over the years, and none compare to Haagen Dazs. It’s very creamy, full-bodied, and has amazing rich flavors. My favorite flavors are the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Truffle, my husband loves the Mocha, Chocolate Truffle, and Cherry Amaretto. Unfortunately, they aren’t as easy to find as they used to be. I grab several pints every time I see them.
Best frozen treat ever!
I’m so addicted already! The peanut butter fudge and the coconut Carmel are to die for, and I think they are plenty creamy, and so good and satisfying that even one serving is enough to fill the desert craving unlike other ice cream brands. Love love love!!!
Flavors are great!
Loved the overall flavors of both the peanut butter fudge and the amaretto black cherry! Still not creamy like real ice cream but a very good alternative option!
Coconut carmel
The coconut Carmel is amazing!!

So… Does Haagen-Dazs Non Dairy contain or does not contain milk? Even 1% of milk…
It does not contain any dairy ingredients. If you have concerns with cross-contamination via manufacturing, you always need to contact the manufacturer to check on their processes. You can’t trust any type of labeling alone when severe food allergies are a concern.
I just tried the non-dairy peanut butter though it was delcious, it was a bit too sweet for me that I threw up from it (I wasted $7.00 for a pint) I checked the ingredients and it contains corn syrup is it possible to remove the corn syrup like they do in Canada? I love Haagan Dazs but will not purchase again.
Love it but the sodium is pretty high!
I have tried them all and they are excellent. I’m vegan and glad that now I can have Ice Cream without the dairy. I first found out about them from No Egg Craig taste test review on you tube. And in taste and consistency they are excellent. Thanks Haagen- Dazs for making my life even sweeter.
I tried the Coconut Caramel. While I found the texture very creamy and the flavor delicious,
I am very disappointed to see that the third ingredient is corn syrup. I will not buy
any frozen desserts, dairy or non dairy that contain GMO ingredients which are toxic.
Until Haagen Dazs removes corn syrup I am boycotting their line of frozen desserts with GMO ingredients. The fact that the Canadian version does not include corn syrup but the U.S. product does is further proof that the U.S. food industry is corrupt.
