Just Cookies were discontinued. Hampton Creek rebranded as Eat JUST, Inc, and they still make products under the Just name. However, they are mostly egg and meat alternatives. There Just Ranch wanders in and out of production. For more cookie options that you can purchase, see our Dairy-Free Cookies Section.
Hampton Creek is just a gift to the vegan world that keeps on giving. It all began with their humble vegan mayo, but has blossomed into so much more. Their most recent venture has been into the sweet world of cookies, starting with Just Cookie Dough and now Just Cookies!
Not only does Hampton Creek create beautiful vegan products, but they are just an all around upstanding company. Their mission is to create foods that taste great, benefit your health, and are sustainable for the planet. All while being affordable and accessible.
Considering my love for cookies and for this incredible company, I was beyond excited to try their new Just Cookies. These soft baked cookies are vegan so naturally they’re dairy-free and egg-free. However, they are definitely not a health food. Hampton Creek makes these rich and indulgent cookies with enriched flour and a handful of different sugars. Fortunately, they’re also individually packaged, which makes self-control around these delicious sweet treats a little easier.
Tasting Notes for Just Cookies
Just Cookies are currently available in 3 varieties: Chocolate Chunk, Double Chocolate Espresso, and Peanut Butter. Thus far, I’ve trialed the following two. But considering my positive experience, if I ever see the Peanut Butter I’d scoop up a box.
Chocolate Chunk
Despite my love for this company, I will admit that I didn’t have the highest expectations for this standard flavor. But upon opening the box, I was greeted with the sweet scent of vanilla and freshly baked cookies. As for the texture, I was pleasantly surprised to find a soft pliable cookie. It was love at first bite.
The cookie was soft and wonderfully chewy, and brought back memories of enjoying Chips Ahoy as a child. And Hampton Creek is serious when they say chocolate chunk. I loved the sizable bites that were generously included, yet not overpowering. In fact, the chocolate chunks were a little soft and melty, almost like the cookie was just baked.
Double Chocolate Espresso
Holy decadence! As a coffee lover, these cookies sounded so promising to me, and I wasn’t disappointed. At first taste, it was all chocolate, but the espresso flavor crept in to enhance the chocolate even more. It was such a lovely balance of chocolate and coffee. Again, the chocolate chunks were dispersed nicely throughout, upping the richness even more. The cookie as a whole was sweet with just the right amount of bitter notes. I think it’s a special treat that begs for a tall glass of almond milk.
On their website, Hampton Creek has a recipe for a mousse pie using these cookies as a crust. I can only imagine how rich, decadent, and delicious that would be!
