Tasting Notes for Ian’s Chicken Nuggets

Ian’s chicken nuggets and tenders come in several different dairy-free and gluten-free varieties. These are the ones we have sampled thus far.

Smokin’ Sweet BBQ

To somewhat mimic processed nuggets, while maintaining the integrity of the meat, Ian’s uses moist ground chicken. It’s a different technique, but it works, especially when paired with such delicious, addictive flavors. These Ian’s Chicken Nuggets have a gentle, not overly sweet, barbecue vibe, and a bit of a spicy kick.

Tony said, “the only problem with these is I can’t stop eating them!” We counted 14 two-bite nuggets in this half-pound box, and every last one was devoured in minutes.

The relatively petite box of these Ian’s Chicken Tenders packed in four sizable tenders, each made with fresh-tasting, unprocessed cuts of all-natural chicken breast and a lightly crunchy, whole grain coating. We dove right in, and Tony immediately commented, “Different, they have a mesquite taste”. He was right; though the nuggets carry the “smokin” label, these have a Texas BBQ flavor with a milder, yet still lightly spicy aftertaste.

I would label the tenders as the more grown-up whole grain offering for Ian’s chicken, with a deeper flavor and lean all-white meat pieces. But realistically, the two adults in this house liked both the whole grain nuggets and tenders equally; they each had something unique to offer.

Supposedly, each box of the Whole Grain Ian’s chicken nuggets and tenders has 2 to 2.5 servings, but Tony and I finished both boxes for dinner without a problem. We were quite full, but just couldn’t bring ourselves to leave a single juicy bite behind. The prep involves just 20 minutes in the oven; it’s almost too easy!

  1. WHOA those tenders look killer! I’m partial to my gluten-free Perdue SimplySmart tenders, but I think I might have to stray from the ‘ol standby when the bag is empty….
