Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt has gained quite a cult following over the years. It was the first almond-based, clean-label yogurt to emerge, and it had the nutritional qualities that so many people were longing for. It’s an artisan-style dairy-free yogurt that’s relatively high in plant-based proteins and fats, is stocked with probiotics, and has minimal additives.
Their flavors are quite high in sugars, but they do offer low sugar Plain and Unsweetened varieties. That said, this yogurt line is a bit more sour than some people might like.

The photo below was taken by me when I bought and sampled their Plain Unsweetened flavor. You will note that the packaging is different, but their formula has stayed the same. So I’m keeping this photo here to give you a close up of the consistency and texture of Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt.

Tastes like clorox
First time trying Kite Hill and rarely write reviews. But The Black Cherry Almond Milk yogurt tasted like it had come out of a machine which had been cleaned (but not rinsed) with clorox.
Taste is fine, but consistancy too thin.
This one isn’t for me I guess. I tried the unsweetened plain. The flavor was alright, pretty good even, but the yogurt has a rather thin consistency. It poured out of the container. I can’t get past that.
Something changed
I really enjoyed Kitehill yogurt a little while ago, but I think they changed the recipe. It’s terrible now. I’ve had to change brands because of it.
My fav dairy free yogurt
I don’t understand all the bad reviews. After tasting several brands of nondairy yogurt this was my favorite, hands down. The lime flavor was outstanding and I really appreciate the inclusion of an unsweetened yogurt. Furthermore their consistency and taste is excellent, it doesn’t come across as starchy.
Mold spots
It was my favorite non dairy sour cream until I started noticing mold in it. Last 2 times I bought it I found visible mold spots .. Not buying it anymore.
Mold spots
It usually isn’t too bad, but have had several cartons for the past months with mold spots. The date on top of the latest was 4/20/22. Had I waited that long, it would have been solid mold. Tossed that one and another unopened. Not taking any chances. I won’t be buying again.
MOLD and strange odd looking ring shaped object inside, felt like material
Mold in yogurt visible and taste like mold as well as “strange odd looking ring shaped object inside, felt like material “as mentioned by a person bellow.
Great Tasting- Except for the mold
Yes, they still have a QC issue.
Horrific vanilla almond yogurt
Worst taste ever I thought it was expired but it wasn’t . Seriously tasted like it had a bad chemical added the after taste so bad I had to brush my teeth. Based on all the bad reviews this company is irresponsible to keep selling this terrible product .
Found a strange object in the past few containers of Strawberry
Has anyone else found a strange object in their yogurt container? I love KiteHilla however the past few purchases I have made, when opening up the yogurt and stirring it there has been a really odd looking ring shaped object inside. It almost resembles felt like material. It does not dissolve well so I just don’t know what it is. I stopped buying for a while and then just purchased one today and found the same thing. Can anyone tell me if they have has this happen and what they think it may be?

I had high hopes for the unsweetened almond yogurt, but it tastes like wood. I won’t be buying any more of that!
I just tried this yogurt. No amount of sweetener, fruit, spices, or acts of God could ever make this palatable to me. I was willing to try it, but there is no way I would buy this again. The consistency was soupy (and it still has almost two weeks before the expiration date) and the taste was just.plain.awful.
I cannot fathom how much work it must have taken to make almonds taste so bad.
I love this yogurt! The Key lime is flavorful with out being “chalky”.. Now i wonder what I’ve been eating until I decided to buy these……I can’t imagine ever eating the basic brands and types of yogurt ever again.
Kite hill, is just the best!
I LOVE Kite Hill yogurt !!!!! Finally a yogurt made without dairy and soy that has great taste and texture (and it won’t break your bank)….. It is so good and a lot of flavors to pick from…. Keep on making your products, there are plenty of vegans that have great taste.. Thanks
Since going dairy-free and doing my best to avoid soy. I have been in search of a great non-dairy, non-soy, vegan yogurt, and I don’t care for the taste of coconuts. So, I thought, I wonder if there’s almond yogurt. Low and behold, I stumbled across this tasty treasure. I have never liked plain yogurts so I didn’t even try that. I went with the vanilla and peach. I could taste the almonds – YUM!! OMGzzz!!! I love it. It’s creamy, smooth, and very yummy. I started thinking of all the yogurt parfaits I could once again make. This is great. But like anything, people have different taste buds and thats why we have such a huge selection on foods we can select. Be careful not to cross-contaminate. Great Job Alisa!
Before going dairy free I was a huge fan of the Australian yogurt Noosa which can be found in most grocery stores around me. It is a super creamy yogurt with a unique taste, after trying many different brands in hopes of finding a similar taste I tried kite hills plain unsweetened yogurt and was so surprised with the similarities it actually ended up having. Upon my first few bites I did feel it was on the tarter side like a traditional dairy Greek yogurt but after adding a little agave I was in heaven. Definetly recommend this brand if you’re looking for a more authentic tAsting dairy free substitute for Greek yogurt or are trying to find a creamy less sugary brand.
You’d need to check with the company Emma, I’m not sure. But I’d be very surprised if it were less than 1 billion. That’s kind of the unofficial minimum with probiotic products.
Do you know how many live cultures there are in this yogurt? I see it says 4 strains but I’m looking for a number like 1 billion live active cultures. Thanks!
PS. I’ve tried the Plain and Vanilla and loved both of them. Ideally, I’d like to find the Plain unsweetened.
does the greek yogurt have less sugar than the other and is it less sweet? Isn’t greek yogurt better for you?
I’ve tried the Greek yogurt, but they are retooling the recipe due to some consistency issues right now. The batches I received were mostly runny, not thick! I think they had slightly less sugar in them (a few grams). They do have Unsweetened versions, too.
Is your yogurt produced on shared equipment with gluten or dairy?
Here’s their FAQ Cindy – http://www.kite-hill.com/about-us/faq/ – but you’d need to contact them directly with that question. Go Dairy Free isn’t affiliated with Kite Hill, but I’ll see if I can get them to comment here.
I was excited to see this new non-dairy yogurt addition to the dairy section at my local whole foods. Being that I have been consuming no diary and only coconut kefir. I decided to give it a try. Although I was hesitant due to some of the ingredients, including the sugar care sweetening agent. I purchased the plain option, added some organic: blueberries, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, chia seeds and caco. The combinations seemed to be perfect, however, I think I will stick with the coconut kefir!
I add cinnamon & org. blueberries + strawberries…….YUM!!!
that = brilliance!
Do you know where I can buy it near Dover NH?
Hi Gayle, I don’t personally, but Kite Hill has a store finder on their website – http://www.kite-hill.com/where-to-buy/

Love Kite Hill yogurt. I wish I could find black cherry or raspberry flavor. So far blueberries, strawberries, lime and plain –
