We recently updated our Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt post, and I realized that we didn’t have one up for their Greek-Style yogurt. It’s a very similar product, but Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt boasts a richer consistency, higher fiber, and even more protein. It also comes in two unsweetened varieties for yogurt lovers who are shunning both dairy and sugar.
Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt was launched near the end of 2017, and still hasn’t gained huge distribution. But you can find it at many natural food stores in the U.S.
Kite Hill Greek Style Yogurt is in the Thick of Dairy-Free Alternatives
Kite Hill’s Greek Style Yogurt is similar to their Classic Almond Yogurt line, but it’s free of xanthan gum, and contains tapioca starch and pectin for extra thickening power. Awful
I thought I had a bad container until I read other reviews. Tastes like something that has gone bad. I cannot get this awful taste out of my mouth. YUCK
So bad, so bitter
I was excited about the protein count and lower fat count, but the taste so sooo bitter. Not even sour, just bitter. I added a bunch of cinnamon maple syrup and fruit to make it edible.
The best non-dairy yogurt
I love to make tzatziki and this was the best that is available in my area. The other brands were watery and did not hold up in the recipes I use. Kite was thick and stayed thick in preparation. Very pleased with it.
Cream of the Crop: Kite Hill Greek Style Plant Based Yogurt
I buy the vanilla unsweetened Kite Hill Greek Style. I’ve been using this product for about a year after I realized that most plant-based yogurts have very little protein. I’m older and workout so I specifically look for yogurt with high protein per serving. This has 17g per serving. The taste was aquired and I love it. I use it in multiple ways, with my morning steel cut oats, with my cut up fruit, and straight out of the container. Zero sugar is another plus and very important to me. I switched for awhile to another brand and hurried up and came back to Kite Hill Greek Style. Nothing else was as good or worth the money or space if my refrigerator. Kite Hill works with my GI tract and the added expense is justified because of the high protein content and zero sugar.
Very thick, too sour
They must have fixed the formula, because it’s very thick now. In terms of the Greek yogurt texture, I think it’s got the right thickness and is pretty creamy. My husband thought it wasn’t bad, but a little pasty. He was okay with the taste, but I found it extremely sour. We only tried the unsweetened plain, so the sweetened ones might be mellower.
They ruined the Greek style yogurt
They changed the formula as others have mentioned. It used to be thick and very much in the Greek style. Now it’s thin and runny. The flavor does not taste natural and it leaves a chalky feel on the tongue. Who in QC approved this change? I was told by customer service that it was to add more protein. I think protein could have been added without changing the texture. It’s disgusting.
I was excited to try it and surprise! All I can say is YUK!
I’ve heard good things about this yogurt and was excited to try it. Needless to say I wasted my money because the greek plain one is nasty! It’s like I’m eating chalk and chemicals! I gave it a fair try by adding honey and nuts and nope. Just can’t do it. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.
New recipe is awful
They changed this and the protein yogurt recipes. They used to be wonderful and thick. Now they are soupy and taste like tangy chalk. I used to love it, but wouldn’t recommend it anymore. And if you’re expecting thick greek style yogurt, you’re going to be disappointed.
Wrong consistency
Idk about anyone else but this did not have the thick consistency of Greek yogurt as marketed. It was just regular wet yogurt. I mean, the flavor was tangy like I wanted. I never had the old formula. But if I’m buying a Greek style yogurt I expect it to be Greek style
Best of the bunch
I have tried many plant-based/vegan yogurts and the best of the bunch (notwithstanding soy yogurt which is still the best but is hard to find and often only the sweetened varieties) is Kite Hill: both the plain unsweetened and the unsweetened plain Greek style. I don’t prefer yogurt presweetened, so both of these have a nice tang. The initial flavor is a little off-putting (thus I subtracted a star) but both are creamy with a nice yogurt-y finish. The original Kite Hill is now creamier with a much better consistency. The Greek style is like Fage—nice and thick, very tangy and preloaded with soy protein. Both have zero added sugar and the original is low sodium. I really like both of these!
