Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars bring Dairy-Free to the Mainstream

    0
By Alisa Fleming on May 4, 2022 Dairy-Free Chocolate Reviews, Product Reviews

Lindt chocolate might be beyond words, but it isn’t beyond reach. Their premium bars and truffles can be found at major grocers throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. Which is what makes their latest release so exciting for dairy-free and vegan consumers. This Swiss born chocolatier has become the first to mass market non-dairy “milk” chocolate bars. Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars are now in U.S. stores nationwide, and are crafted with a smooth, creamy recipe.

Lindt Makes OatMilk Chocolate Mainstream with Creamy Dairy-Free Bars

In the U.S., Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars are sold in both a smooth and creamy Classic Recipe, and a Salted Caramel variety that’s dotted with crunchy salted caramel pieces. But use caution if you don’t eat wheat. Both USA varieties of Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars state “gluten free oats” on the packaging, but the Salted Caramel contains a small amount of wheat in the glucose syrup. In Canada, all varieties appear to be made without wheat, but as always, verify!

Classic Recipe (similar to Smooth in the UK and Original in Canada)

Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars Reviews & Info (Dairy-Free, Vegan)Ingredients: sugar, oat milk powder (oat milk, maltodextrin), cocoa butter, almond paste, chocolate, soy lecithin (emulsifier), natural flavors. manufactured on equipment that also processes products containing milk and other tree nuts.

    Nutrition (per 9 pieces / 30 grams): 170 calories, 10g fat, 18g carbs, 0g fiber, 13g sugars (includes 10g added sugars), 1g protein.*

    UK / Canada Varieties

In the UK and Canada, Lindt also offers “oat drink” and “oat based” chocolate bars, respectively. The base recipe appears to be very similar to the Lindt OatMilk Chocolate Bars in the U.S., but those countries also have a Hazelnut variety, which is dotted with crunchy hazelnut pieces. And as noted above, the vegan Salted Caramel bars outside of the U.S. appear to be made without wheat.

Dairy free…with caramel? Sign me up!

It’s creamy and has the nice, mellow milk chocolate flavor that I thought I had lost forever when I was diagnosed with a dairy allergy. Having just a milk chocolate bar option made me happy, but to discover that the salted caramel was also dairy free has me rejoicing. I really hope Lindt comes up with some more flavors in this line.

My local store ran out recently. I hope they get a new shipment in soon. Or maybe best they don’t… I was buying these way too often.

So excited to finally have a vegan chocolate bar that tastes great, is uber smooth, and can be found at a regular store instead of just specialties.

I'll stick with the dark chocolate

I have been impressed with some of the dairy-free milk chocolates, but oat milk chocolate just isn’t doing it for me so far. Lindt oat milk is very smooth (unlike some other oatmilk chocolate brands), but it has a consistency that seems oddly thick and almost a little pasty. The flavor is very sweet, with an oat aftertaste and really doesn’t taste as chocolaty as I would hope. My husband liked it slightly better, because he has a serious sweet tooth, but he also wavered between 2 and 3 stars.
