Love Grown Foods Power O’s Cereal: Healthy High-Protein, Low-Calorie Ingredients

Those little perfect cereal pieces were long overdue for a more nutritious upgrade. They are adored from infancy on, as finger food, in snack recipes, and of course, for breakfast. And sure, they were already “whole grain”, but Love Grown Foods has taken another approach, making their Power O’s Cereal with beans!

Each crunchy bite of Power O’s Cereal contains a base of navy beans, lentils, garbanzo bean, and brown rice flour, with just a smattering of additional all-natural ingredients. They are wholesome, and pretty darn tasty, too! In fact, I really couldn’t detect even the slightest beany note in the seamless flavors.

Tasting Notes for Love Grown Power O’s

Though Love Grown Foods has slipped the bean taste under the radar, the nutrition lets you know that they are in fact there. This is a lean, mean food! Just 60 calories, 1 gram of sugar, 3 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber. Note that the flavored varieties have equivalent fiber and protein, but they are bumped up to 100 calories and 8 grams of sugar per serving. However, even the sweetened Power O’s Cereal flavors are all-natural with a wonderfully short ingredient list.

As for the taste of Power O’s Cereal, they sent us a few samples to weigh in on…

This Power O’s Cereal original is seriously similar to the taste of Cheerios! It isn’t sweet, but rather delightfully savory, perfectly crunchy (holds up quite well in milk alternative, too!), and darn delicious.

The same great crunchy base, with fruit loopy essence, but without an overly sugary taste or anything artificial.

Mmm, a real sweet treat. Ironically, this appears to be a vegan cereal, as honey isn’t even in the ingredient list! To be honest, I looked because although it has a scrumptious taste, it didn’t smack of real honey.

Cocoa pebble lovers rejoice! These just sweet enough bites are full of cocoa goodness.

Power O’s Cereal comes in both full 10-ounce boxes and those cute little single serve boxes (love!). Honestly, I would love to make the Original a regular snack, but the price point is slightly out of my standard range.

They rival Cheerios in taste and crunch

The quality and taste of these surprisingly bean-based bites is hard to beat for everyday cereal lovers. They rival Cheerios in taste and crunch, but excel with a short, all-natural ingredient list. I could see making the Original a go-to snack, and I know the 3 flavored varieties would be kid favorites!

I never eat cold cereal (I’m an oatmeal person) but my daughter gave me a box of the chocolate Power O’s and I eat a bowl with almond milk whenever I need a snack. Delicious!

  2. The chocolate Power Oh’s are just the thing for a tastey treat full of goodness. Who ever thought they could make a cereal out of beans that would taste this good!! The short and simple ingredient list is another plus, nothing but good stuff in there!!

  4. I am located in Australia and have troubles finding this Cereal here.
Do you have any distributors in Australia? Queensland and New South Wales preferred.
Please contact me and we will discuss this further. Thank you very much. Patiently awaiting your reply.

  5. I’m am really interested in this cereal! Are there any ones made without rice?

  6. I buy mine at superstore in the health food section. $4.99 I believe. So good!!

  7. I saw the Power O’s honey in the grocery store yesterday and I thought, no way can they make a cereal from beans. So I decided to try a box and brought home a box of the honey. I tried it this morning and was I surprised, it really was good, stayed crisp, not like cheerios or other flake cereal and had a very pleasant taste. I did however, have the after taste of scorched/burnt beans in my mouth for a while, but the good taste outweight the after taste. I am looking forward to trying the Chocolate and Strawberry O’s and later the flake type product. Tell Alex and Maddy that I really like eating health beans for breakfast.

  8. Hello How can I buy LOVE GROWN FOODS POWER O’S CEREAL CHOCOLATE in the store.Thank you for your help. Grace

  9. I tried the strawberry o’s a couple of weeks back and OMG they were delishous! I try to watch my carbs and I’m not a big cereal eater, but I got these to keep as a sort of treat…it was so hard not to eat the whole box though, I had to exercise a great deal of self control. It was hard to believe the main ingredients are beans!
