I foresee many of these "brownie meets chocolate cupcake" treats in allergy-friendly lunch boxes across North America. Love how portable they are, and the brownie influence.

If the popularity of Lucy’s Cookies is any indication, then there is no doubt that Dr. Lucy’s new Gluten-Free Brownie Cakes will also be a huge hit for allergy-friendly lunch boxes.

We sampled a package of these individually foil-wrapped treats, and were pleased with the gentle semi-sweet chocolate flavor. The flavor is easily suited to both chocoholics, and kids whose taste buds aren’t yet ready for rich, dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes for Lucy’s Gluten-Free Brownie Cakes

I loved the thin, but slightly crusty exterior of these gluten-free brownie cakes; something that is so often missing from egg-free brownies. The inside erred on the cake-like side. It had just a slightly dense texture and coarse crumb, further indicating the brownie influence. The mellow flavor had a touch of richness, but I would have liked this amped up just a bit. My only complaint was that they were a touch dry. Not quite as moist and tender as I prefer both brownies and cupcakes, but that didn’t stop both of us from enjoying every last bite!
