Miyoko’s Creamery now makes vegan Cream Cheeses, Fresh Mozzarellas, mainstream Slices, Blocks & Shreds, and other dairy alternatives. But Miyoko’s Vegan Cheese Wheels were the products that started it all. Miyoko broke the mold by using culturing cashews to create very natural dairy-free cheese alternatives that have the depth of dairy cheese.
I still remember the VegNews magazine relaunch party, where Miyoko debuted these vegan cheese wheels. In addition to sampling, Miyoko held a cooking class where she showed how she makes her dairy-free cheese alternatives (it isn’t that easy!). Most of her original flavors are still produced today. Even the Fig Leaf variety makes seasonal appearances.
Miyoko’s Vegan Cheese Wheels are the Cultured Side of Cashews
The packaging is the same for each variety, but Miyoko’s Vegan Cheese Wheels come in two times: double cream semi-soft and aged semi-firm. Both are slice-able and a touch soft, but the double cream spreads more easily. They’re rich enough to showcase on cheeseboards, but also work well in recipes. They can be used for topping or melting.

Vegan Cheese Wheel
The Cheese Wheels with no coconut oil are perfect and are highly recommended. Smoked English Farmhouse, Sharp Farmhouse, Fresh Loire Valley and Black Ash, all have excellent ingredients. Taste and texture are great, I eat one of these flavors with matzoh or crackers for breakfast daily. I avoid coconut oil as I believe it’;s health benefits to be completely over the top and avoid it, and hope the fad of coconut will soon be over. Enjoy!
Sharp English Farmhouse was Disgusting
I’m sorry to have to say this as I would love to support vegan products but this was just inedible. I paid 15 bucks for a very small hunk of what was sold as vegan cheese but tasted like a miso paste with extra salt and a lot of vinegar. It was not “semi firm” but a paste pretty much just like miso. I tried smearing it on a cracker but the taste was seriously off and way too strong. I am vegan and have found a few other vegan cheese I like and was looking forward to a cultured cheese. I ended up taking it back to the store for a refund.

Thanks for the information!!! I just placed my order. I’m so excited to taste my selections!
Awesome, I’m sure you’re going to love it! But feel free to share your honest review here after you’ve tried it Nicole 🙂
Hi! I’m the Quality Manager at Miyoko’s.
Our products are certified organic…and the seal is there on the box…except for the one you took home! The Mt. Vesuvius Black Ash isn’t certified because the ash wasn’t a certified ingredient.
Also, not all our are soy-free. The French Style Winter Truffle contains organic soy milk (soy beans and water), and so its box does not include the soy-free language. Our new butter is also not soy-free (it contains non-GMO soy lecithin).
Thanks,
Matt
