After a detour into more mainstream products, Miyoko decided to go back to their artisan roots. So Miyoko’s Cultured Vegan Cheese alternatives in Slices, Shreds, and Blocks have been discontinued. But they are still making their revolutionary Liquid Mozzarella, popular Vegan Mozz, classic Cheese Wheels, basic Cream Cheese Spreads, and unique Roadhouse Cheese Spreads.
Miyoko is well known for her nutty dairy-free artisan cheeses with short ingredient lists, but she’s vying for a bigger audience with her latest product collection. Miyoko’s Cultured Vegan Cheese is initially launching in everyday slices and shreds, with blocks on the way, and is more of a formula-based cheese alternative. In line with the trends, it’s nut-free and boasts oat milk, legumes, and coconut oil as key ingredients.
As you can see, Miyoko has removed the word “cheese” from the label of her latest product line, but she’s still in a battle with the California Ag Department over the use of “dairy” words. And quite frankly, we aren’t sure what else to call it besides vegan cheese alternative! Cultured vegan doesn’t really get the picture across.
Miyoko’s Cultured Vegan Cheese Slices its way into the Mainstream
According to Miyoko, these cheese alternatives are made for melting and taste similar to their dairy counterparts. They’re intended to perform perfectly in quesadillas, grilled cheese sandwiches, and on pizza! But you be the judge. Leave your review and rating below once you’ve bought and tried this product.

Flavorful
So far, I like everything Miyoko’s, when I see something new by this company I will try it because it will likely be tasty. I’m not sure what happened to my usual brand of shredded vegan but it lost flavor and I’ve just stopped eating it altogether so when I saw this on the Whole Foods site I got both slices and shreds. It has a taste, melts well, and the shreds are better than others I’ve tried. My only criticism is that they could be sharper, you get a nice flavor but no bite so I’m hoping they will tweek at least the cheddar. I will be buying these from now on and recommend trying them.
Amazing!!!
Delicious and full of flavor.
Melt considerably well and ingredients are great compared to most cheese alternatives.
Entire family liked it–even those adverse to plant based products!
Definitely a winning product!
Ehh...
So the first vegan cheese I ever used was Daiya, I got used to it. Since then I have tried many vegan alternatives to cheese and the Miyoko’s cheddar style slices kind of reminded me of Daiya. Didn’t melt particularly great, kind of tasted like Daiya. I will definitely be sticking to my CHAO.
Tastes so bad. So pricy i tortured myself to finish them off.
I absolutely love Miyoko’s products. The dairy free cheeses have nutritional value on top of being soy free which is great for me as i’m allergic. I’m still vegetarian, so I will eat real cheese every once in a while but don’t enjoy the effects of it so i got super excited when i saw these cheddar slices in store at my local family owned grocer. Come home to try them and I was so upset because they taste like total garbage. It tastes like the terrible powdered cheese you would get from the kraft boxed mac & cheese. For the past month i’ve been slowly but surely getting rid of them, because i didn’t want to just waste food. I’ve tried them in every way. Cheese fries, grilled cheese, veggie tacos, you name it. And every way, they still tasted god awful! Needless to say..i’ll stick with the cashew cheese wheels and spreads.
Not what I expected
I really wanted to love these. I absolutely love Miyokos cheese wheel and I could eat her oat milk butter with a spoon, but the cheddar shred really disappointed me. They had an off texture and melted poorly. I much prefer the new brand Vevan cheese or Violife.
Very delicious
I love that these are nut free. They do not taste processed and have a delicious sharp flavor that you can tell is a cultured product
cream cheese
I expected because this was cream cheese I expected it to have a savory flavor. Much to my surprise it tasted sweet and had an after taste, This is terrible cream cheese that I won’t buy again because it doesn’t come close to what cream cheese tastes like.
Not all Organic
Too much chemicals . Probly better ingredients than other vegan cheese but not like your originals. I won’t be buying only your organic su dried tomatoes cheese and others and butter and cream cheese originals make it best less ingredients thankyou
Delicious pepper jack cheese
I couldn’t believe how good the pepper jack was…amazing!! I finally get to taste cheese I like again.
Pepper Jack and Garlic Parm are mind-blowing
Both Cheeses are fantastic. They have the taste, melt, mouthfeel of dairy cheese. I liked the Pepper Jack best. Made a plain grilled cheese and one with fig jam. Sensational. Garlic Parm makes the best garlic bread.
