With only five ingredients, Miyoko’s Cashewmilk Cream Cheese is the closest thing we’ve found to homemade dairy-free and vegan cream cheese. But unlike most recipes that use acidic ingredients to add tang, Miyoko’s Creamery cultures their cream cheese alternative for a more authentic flavor. And over the years, they’ve whipped up some new flavors, including Scallion, Vegan Lox, Everything, and now, Cinnamon Raisin.
Miyoko’s Cashewmilk Cream Cheese is Now in 5 Organic, Vegan Flavors
All of Miyoko’s products are palm oil-free, but this line up is also completely oil-free. The creamy consistency comes from a paleo-friendly blend of cashews and coconut cream. We’ve got some notes on each flavor, but tell us what you think about this product too! Leave your review and rating below.
Plainly Classic
This is meant to be the most versatile variety, for spreading on bagels, whipping into frosting, and creating “classic” dairy-free cheesecakes. But it is a little coconut-forward and sour in flavor, and might not work perfectly for every cream cheese need. Nonetheless, it’s thick, rich, and will provide a nice consistency whether served cold or baked.

Savory Scallion
Green onions and a dash of white pepper give this thick spread a savory flavor that is great on bagels, appetizers, or in recipes. It will even melt nicely into sauces.

Fish-Free Lox
Seaweed and spice give this schmear a seafood vibe. I’ve heard rave reviews from both vegans and non-vegans on the flavor, which is best for bagels and appetizers.

Everything
In this case, “everything” means a mix of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic, and onion. It’s great for toast, bagels, or whipping to create a pretzel or chip dip.

Cinnamon Raisin
This is Miyoko’s first foray into a sweetened cream cheese. It contains just a dash of organic sugar, but is also sweetened with raisins for a great breakfast or snack spread. Try it on celery sticks!

Best alternative for cream cheese
Try it for yourself before you pre-judge it based on the bad reviews below. It’s one of the best dairy-free all-natural alternatives for cream cheese.
Those who just went vegan might have a hard time with it. I went dairy free a year ago and this does the trick for me.
Weird vinegar taste - nothing like cream cheese
I’ve tried this twice now, and it’s consistently awful. Have the taste testers ever tried dairy cream cheese? This tastes absolutely nothing like the real thing. Weird color and texture are just the icing on the cake. I feel like cream cheese should be the ‘easiest’ cheese to copy, given its neutral base.
These reviews scared me, but I tried it and it was Good! Expensive though.
The Publix monopoly grocery chain here in Florida hasn’t carried its normal organic cream cheese in a few weeks (I assume they shut the factory down due to a single employee in the factory getting Coronavirus, that’s what they’re all doing now!). But I saw this brand on the shelf although it cost almost twice as much and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly it was very good. It wasn’t too sour either, it was sour, but not too sour like these other people are saying.
Tasted spoiled
My girlfriend and I were really looking forward to trying Miyoko’s plain vegan cream cheese. After reading other reviews we see we were not alone on how we felt. Very disappointed with the sour flavor. We went vegan recently, and we still remember very well how cream cheese is supposed to taste. This stuff doesn’t come close. I think Miyoko needs to definitely adjust her recipe to create a more mild flavor profile.
What happened miyokos??
Literally my fave brand of vegan cheese hands down, but this cream cheese is horrible. Every other vegan cream cheese I’ve tasted is fine but this one is so sour.
Yuck!!
This is the nastiest thing I’ve ever tasted. I thought maybe it had gone bad. Whole tub is in my garbage can! Deserves 0 stars.
Disgusting
Horrible and sour. Bought the sensational scallion cream cheese. Nothing sensational about it. Thought it had gone bad until i read other comments about it being so sour.
Cant stop eating
I’m so confused by these reviews. I struggled not to eat it all at once. Maybe people don’t like the sour flavor and I’m crazy for it.
So nasty
This is horrible I had bought the lox one without realizing and it was so bad. I figured I just wasn’t a fan of lox (never had it). I bought the plain one yesterday, and it is awful. I was trying to wipe it off of my bagel. Instead of throwing it away like I did with the lox one, I gave it to my mom to try. “Ick!” I will be sticking to Tofutti from now on! (And it’s what I would have bought in the first place If it had been in stock.)
Un-Lox Your Dream....or did they mean nightmare
Tried this one not understanding that some ones dream is apparently of cream cheese with a seafood vibe. Nothing on the packaging indicates is should taste of seafood.
But it doesn’t taste like that at all. The product is tan in color, not white. It smells like bacon or sausage and tastes a bit like sausage cream cheese.
I do no recommend this. It’s not good.
