Honestly, I was waiting for this day to come. If you have a copy of the 2nd edition of Go Dairy Free, then you know I use homemade cheese sauce on dairy-free pizzas. It never made sense to me why companies worked so hard to create solid cheese alternatives for the sole purpose of melting. Nevertheless, Miyoko’s Vegan Pizza Mozzarella is the first brand to embrace the idea of using a liquid cheese alternative on pizza. It’s essentially a cheesy, creamy sauce that you drizzle on. It then thickens as it bakes.
Miyoko’s Vegan Pizza Mozzarella is the First Liquid Cheese Alternative
If you’re a fan of Miyoko’s Vegan Fresh Mozzarella, then you will probably love this product. They have a very similar recipe. One is just made with coconut oil, to help it set up in solid form, while the other is made with sunflower oil, to keep it from setting up. This Pizza Mozzarella still doesn’t stretch, like classic mozzarella, but it does brown, keep the pizza toppings in place, and add cheesy flavor.
This product was first marketed to food service, and then released last year on Miyoko’s website for consumers to buy. But it was a trial, and they quickly ran out. To avoid getting hopes up, we didn’t cover it then. But now, Miyoko’s Vegan Pizza Mozzarella is fully stocked as a core product and shipping to customers throughout the U.S. We have full details below, and a section for unbiased reviews!

Gooey disappointment
Excited to make a pizza from scratch and topped it off with grated Miyoko mozzarella after hearing it was the best non-dairy alternative. This probably tastes great for people who haven’t had a real pizza in decades, but it falls far short. No stringing, hard to brown (even after putting it under the broiler). Then you get the familiar gluey, gooey mess that I’ve had with every vegan alternative. Waiting for biotech Pureture to see if they solve the riddle.
Nice but way too salty
This would be perfect cheese if it wasn’t so incredibly salty. Save yourself the headache, literally.
Won me over!
I’m still not sure how I feel about *pouring* cheese, but this is delicious.
Poured it over a pizza to try, and it firms up in the oven to make a bubbly, well-browned layer of creamy, cheesy goodness.
Doesnt taste like chemicals and plastic like so much of the vegan cheese that’s out there, either!
Cant wait to make lasagna with it.
Delicious and melts like classic!!
The best vegan mozzarella cheese I’ve ever had!! It melts like classic and tastes fabulous!!
