My/Mo Dairy-Free Mochi Ice Cream is Now in 5 Cashew-Based Flavors (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on May 27, 2020 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

My/Mo Dairy-Free Mochi Ice Cream has been discontinued, but they’ve replaced it with My Mochi Oat Milk Ice Cream Mochi. The products are very similar, but do have a “milk” swap and a slightly different formula.

I have to admit, I haven’t tasted much frozen mochi in my life. Most varieties contain dairy, making them off limits. So I was intrigued when I learned about My/Mo Dairy-Free Mochi Ice Cream. I expected it to have a coconut filling, but it actually has a cashew ice cream center.

They originally launched their dairy-free line with four flavors. Each one has a creamy ice cream filling made from cashews, and is enrobed in a chewy mochi rice coating. But they added a fifth flavor in 2020 that also has a surprise filling in the middle.

My/Mo Dairy-Free Mochi Ice Cream Reviews and Information - made with Cashew Cream.

My/Mo Dairy-Free Mochi Ice Cream is Now in 5 Cashew-Based Flavors

My/Mo makes a large line of mochi ice cream that’s made with dairy, and the packaging used to look very similar to the dairy-free varieties. Fortunately, they’ve updated the packaging, so the dairy-free mochi ice cream now has a noticeable “plant-based – non-dairy” label across the top (shown in these photos). Make sure you pick up the right one! And once you’ve tried it, you can leave your own rating and review below.

    I'd recommend these to anyone

The chewy, sweet shell of mochi is a fun experience! It becomes a bit tricky to eat as it melts, but it was still tasty. We sampled two flavors …

Vanilla: The frozen dessert center was initially quite creamy, but it had a slightly watery finish. The vanilla flavor was pleasant, but it didn’t wow with that warm, sweet, earthiness that I adore. Overall, it was fulfilling, tasty, and indulgent. I just wanted a little more oomph.

Strawberry: Somehow the strawberry ice cream seemed creamier than the vanilla and it had an amazing bright, fresh strawberry flavor. In fact, it was bursting with fruitiness! I would recommend these bites to anyone, dairy-free or not.

I can’t wait until these are available in my area. I also hope they’ll add cashew cream versions of their green tea and mango varieties too!

That would be delicious! I think there is another brand, coconut milk based, that has green tea. I just can’t quite remember the name.
