Springfield Creamery, the makers of Nancy’s Probiotic Foods, is a family owned Eugene, Oregon company that was founded in 1960. They are dedicated to their dairy product lines, but have also catered to dairy-free customers for years. Their Soy Yogurt was discontinued a few years ago, but they replaced it with a full range of non-dairy Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt. And this summer, they’ve decided to completely revamp their oatmilk line. It has a new look and a brand new recipe, with several ingredient changes.
Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt Transitions to All New Formula and Packaging
What are the changes in Nancy’s Oatmilk Yogurt? The company swapped the faba bean protein for chickpea protein, down-sized ever so slightly from 6 ounces to the standard 5.3 ounce singles (the multi-serves are still the same size), increased the coconut oil for a richer (and higher fat) consistency, and replaced the agar with gellan gum for thickening. But don’t worry, it’s still dairy-free and soy-free, contains live and active cultures, and has 30 to 50% less sugar than the leading plant-based yogurts (and many dairy yogurts).

More Allergen Notes
These yogurts are made without top allergens, and do not have a “may contain” statement for any allergens. The container we purchased actually had dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free listed right on the package. However, they are made on shared equipment with dairy (we’re assuming yogurt). They do not specify certified gluten-free oats on the ingredients online, but it looks like they do on the containers. Double check in store and with the company, if needed.

Used to make best the non-dairy yogurt without processed sugar.
As a yogurt loving vegan (many moons ago) I tried every product on the market. Avoiding processed sugars made finding a good non-dairy yogurt using whole food sweeteners a tall order. Being very health conscious, refined sugar was out and I needed probiotics. I came across Nancy’s Soy Yogurt which was extremely hard to find, even in NYC. Once I tried it I found my yogurt, elated. It was the best tasting, had live active cultures & used agave/brown rice syrup to sweeten! Nothing refined, an actually healthy & tasty non-dairy yogurt – it checked every box. I could only special order it from 1 health food store near St. Marks in NYC & used to take the train from Brooklyn just to get it. To see they discontinued the line is unfortunate but expected as health food companies are constantly revamping their lines to fit current trends, sadly. But to replace the whole food sweeteners with sugar is beyond disappointing, not to mention making the already small size even smaller (the 1 downside of Nancy’s soy yogurt was they came in VERY small containers). I spread the word far & wide to anyone looking that Nancy’s was the best vegan yogurt hands down but they’ve lost a lot of points here for changing their superior & healthy product so much. They’re still a great brand but I hate seeing “crunchy” brands that look out for our health start to cut corners to turn a profit. Processed sugars? Smaller sizes? Don’t even get me started on health/environmentally conscious brands switching from glass to plastic! Seems there is no health food community anymore w/ truly health conscious options anymore. It’s all about what’s trendy at the moment & turning profit. Sad to witness.
Used to love it…
I probably won’t even finish the new container.
Use to love it, before they changed it up
Loved the old Nancy’s oat milk yogurt. It was low in saturated fat and lower in sugar. The new way they make it has increased the saturated fat and the texture terrible. Prior to the ingredient change I had a Nancy’s yogurt every day. Since they changed it, I have bought 3 containers of it…too nasty and too expensive now. Please go back to the original recipe, the new stuff is just too gross, and too high in saturated fats
Looking for something else, again
I’m very disappointed that they changed their formula, 8 g of fat in one serving is crazy! I’m a nurse and no way will I consume 8 g of fat in 5.3 oz of yogurt, or ask my patients to either, that nuts! So…looking for another yogurt, again. The plain flavor was the only plant based low fat and low carb yogurt I ever found, I’m crushed!
Gummy Infant oatmeal cereal
I appreciate the higher protein content of the oat milk yogurts relative to other lactose free options. Prior to Nancy’s “new, creamier texture”, I thought I had found the “perfect “ lactose-free non-soy / non-dairy vanilla yogurt. The new texture of the vanilla option is “gummy” and tastes like baby oatmeal cereal. Not bad, but I much preferred the texture and taste of the previous recipe. I’m disappointed.
New creamy recipe is terrible
I loved the old strawberry hibiscus recipe. It was light and delicious.
The new creamy recipe is so gross. It tastes like I’m eating chunks of sand and fat. Went from 5/5 to 1/5. So disappointed in this chnage.
Worst yoghurt I’ve ever had
I used to buy it occasionally in 2018, it was so so, like 3/5. This new formula is the worst yogurt I have ever had. Horrible taste and texture.
Change for the worst
Why? Was it cheaper? I am search for a new product, very disappointed.
Not like the original
Very disappointed. Don’t know why you changed it. Is the original still available? That was the only yogurt I liked if all the real yogurts out there.
Response from Go Dairy Free
Pretty sure this is replacing their old line completely.
New recipe is unhealthy and bland
Used to be great – was the healthiest non diary yogurt on the market with no added sugar and low fat. New recipe is now the unhealthiest yogurt with 8 g of saturated fat per serving. Extensive research shows coconut oil raises LDL cholesterol. Old version was creamy enough with a little stirring. Plus new taste is bland. Nancy succumbed to marketing and abandoned those of us looking for good healthy food.
