Oatly Ice Cream Rolls out in 7 Allergy-Friendly Flavors

    0
By Alisa Fleming on July 31, 2019 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

Trendy Oatly is arguably the founder of the oat milk movement, but they weren’t the first ones to release oatmilk ice cream. So Delicious and Perry’s beat them to the punch. Nonetheless, Oatly is churning up the frozen dessert scene with a big launch of seven flavors. They have an ice cream truck traveling around Southern California for the summer, and are now shipping their pints to grocery stores across the country.

Oatly Launches 3 New Ice Cream Flavors in the U.K.

Why do companies release different flavors in different countries? Honestly, I have no idea. I’m pretty sure most Americans would swoon over Salted Caramel, and I bet they would enjoy Mint Chip across the pond. But for whatever reason, Oatly Ice Cream has emerged in three unique flavors in the U.K.

    Chocolate Fudge

Oatly Ice Cream Review & Info - 3 Flavors in the UK, 7 Flavors in the US Ingredients: oat base (water, oats), sugar, glucose syrup, dextrose, rapeseed oil, fully hydrogenated coconut- and rapeseed oil, cocoa powder 2,7%, coconut oil, cocoa butter, emulsifier (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), corn starch, stabilizer (locust bean gum, guar gum), salt, cocoa extract, natural flavour, colour (plain caramel). contains: 10% vanilla fudge.*

    Nutrition (per 100g serving): 235 calories, 11g fat, 32g carbs, 1.4g fiber, 25 sugars, 1.2g protein.*

    Hazelnut Swirl

Oatly Ice Cream Review & Info - 3 Flavors in the UK, 7 Flavors in the USIngredients: oat base (water, oats), sugar, glucose syrup, dextrose, rapeseed oil, hazelnuts, fully hydrogenated coconut- and rapeseed oil, coconut oil, corn starch, emulsifier (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), natural flavour, salt, stabilizer (locust bean gum, guar gum), colour (caramel). Contains: 6% hazelnuts.*

    Nutrition (per 100g serving): 246 calories, 14g fat, 28g carbs, 1.1g fiber, 23g sugars, 1.4g protein.*

    Salted Caramel

Ingredients: oat base (water, oats), sugar, glucose syrup, dextrose, rapeseed oil, fully hydrogenated coconut- and rapeseed oil, coconut oil, tapioca starch, natural flavour, emulsifier (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids), salt, stabilizer (locust bean gum, guar gum), colour (beta carotene). contains: 10% salty caramel sauce.*

    Nutrition (per 100g serving): 220 calories, 12g fat, 27g carbs, .7g fiber, 23g sugars, .7g protein.*

    Additional Allergen Notes*

Oatly Ice Cream is processed in a frozen dessert facility that also processes products containing dairy (as evidenced by the OU-D certification), eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, and tree nuts. But they state that they rigorously test throughout production to ensure there is no cross-contamination of any kind.

Our products are 100% nut, peanut, dairy, egg, gluten and soy free. We know this because we rigorously test our products at multiple stages of production to ensure there has been no cross-contamination during production or packing.

Nonetheless, always contact the company before consumption to ensure that their product is safe for your needs.

I tried the vanilla and it tastes like mushy oats. I don’t taste any vanilla. I wouldn’t recommend.

We held a vanilla taste off, and included Oatly. We had one thumbs down vote, saying it was flat in flavor. Another said it tasted like Oreo filling, but without the shortening aftertaste. And the others thought it was nicely creamy, but definitely tasted “oaty.” We all agreed that it lacked vanilla flavor and had an underwhelming, rather nonexistent aftertaste. It wasn’t bad, just not a wow.

I tried the chocolate. I think that I can safely leave Häagen-Dazs alone. I cannot take the effects of dairy on my body anymore. But, I wanted to let the makers of Oatly know that they have to step up their game and add some flavors like the rum raisin and bourbon pecan. Just bite off of Häagen-Dazs. Thus way they will attract more customers and I never have to give into my craving for dairy ice cream anymore. Thank you
