The Albertsons Company opted to discontinue their Open Nature Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert line, but they still make Open Nature Oat Frozen Dessert and Open Nature Almondmilk Frozen Dessert pints in various flavors.
A couple years ago, I shared the growing collection of Store Brand Dairy-Free Ice Creams, including Open Nature from Albertsons. They originally launched in six nutty varieties, three with almondmilk and three with cashewmilk. This post is a new home for product details and reviews on the Open Nature Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert flavors. You can see the almondmilk flavors here, and the details for the cashewmilk flavors below.
Open Nature Cashewmilk Frozen Dessert is a Dairy-Free Store Specialty
We sampled the Cookie Dough flavor of Open Nature Cashewmilk dairy-free ice cream, when it first released. And as you can see from my photos, there was very little cookie dough and not a single chocolate flake! It looks nothing like the picture on the package. Hopefully it was just a production glitch that has been fixed. If you try any of the following flavors, leave your unbiased rating and review below, to let us know how your pint turned out.

What Others Are Saying ...
Confusing
I had to literally check the container to verify it was supposed to be vegan ice cream. It tasted like bland dough, sort of frozen, and the texture matched. I spit it out, actually, which has never happened! I have pretty basic tastes, so I’ll eat almost anything!
The WEIRD part, though, was the next morning. I had decided not to finish the ice cream on my spoon, so I tossed it into the sink. 8 hours later I went into the kitchen and the scoop of “ice cream” was STILL ON THE SPOON – NOT MELTED?! What?!?! Trauma. I’m traumatized
10 STARS if I could
I was looking for it yesterday, but didn’t find it because I forgot what store it was from! So far, I’ve only tried the chocolate & vanilla. When I went vegan, I was willing to give up my beloved dairy for the sake of baby cows. I never knew I was taking their milk & their lives by buying dairy. Open Nature is every bit as delicious as dairy ice cream. If you don’t know it was plant based, you’d never guess that it was anything other than traditional ice cream. It’s a win-win for ice cream lovers and baby cows! Thank you!
Meh...
Way too much water in it. Soy Delicious is way creamier, and much superior. This stuff is okay, but the competition doesn’t have much to worry about. Kinda bland in comparison too. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s awful, but I’m not impressed. I tried the Salted Caramel Cluster.
Where’s the cookie dough?
The cookie dough is non-existent and the taste of the ice cream is weirdly tangy. Didn’t bother to finish, not worth the calories.
Just didn't meet expectations
We tried the cookie dough variety and it was almost void of cookie dough and chocolate flakes. The flavor was also a bit flat, and in need of perhaps a pinch of salt or something else to help make it pop.
