Just a year after its release, Perennial has changed their formula, just a touch (it’s now nut-free!), and rebranded as Perennial Daily Gut & Brain Health. They really want consumers to know this isn’t just another milk alternative, it’s a nutritional beverage.
Industry innovators Brent Taylor and Sara Bonham teamed up to create Perennial, a dairy-free milk beverage geared toward the 50+ consumer. In their opinions, this demographic is largely “forgotten” by the natural food industry, despite strong interest in nutritious plant-based products.
Perennial Daily Gut & Brain Health is a nutrient-packed, non-dairy milk beverage that contains a proprietary combination of fiber, vitamins, and plant protein that targets healthy aging. It has the same complete protein and nutrient levels as 2% dairy milk, but is dairy-free and and boasts better nutrition for digestion, bone and brain health. For example, it contains 5 grams of prebiotic fiber to enhance calcium absorption and 32 mg of Omega-3 DHA.
Perennial is a Timeless Dairy-Free Milk Beverage for Healthy Aging
The first question I had was, “I’m not over 50, is it still for me?” According to Perennial, anyone can enjoy it, but their recipe was personalized for the body and brain of people over 50. You can read more about the ingredients and nutrition below.
Perennial Daily Gut & Brain Health launched in Vanilla (similar to Perennial Original in flavor) and Chocolate. It’s a lightly sweetened blend of pea protein, soy protein, and rice protein that I’ve been told has a nice creamy finish. But please do leave your own rating and review below once you try it!

Awesome drink
Taste delicious, helps with my stomach issues. I feel so good. I recommend this to everyone as a daily ritual to their routine.
Delicious plant based meal on the go
Both the vanilla and the chocolate drinks are super tasty. I’ll drink them straight or sometimes I’ll add some fruit and veggies to make a smoothie. I know I’m younger than the target audience but the focus on gut and brain still works for me (in my early 40s). I did end up signing my parents (in their 70s) up for a subscription as well.
A Tasty Dairy-Free Nutrition Beverage
I’m not quite old enough to be in Perennial’s targeted market, but I enjoyed trying their dairy-free nutritional beverage all the same. The flavor reminds me of Ensure beverages, and also of vanilla Rice Dream. The vanilla flavor isn’t too overpowering or too sweet. I like the convenient single-serve cartons as well.
