Pure Organic Ancient Grain Bars are a Modernized Gluten-Free Snack (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on July 11, 2018 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Unfortunately, most Pure Bar products have been discontinued. For options tha tare currently available, see our Dairy-Free Bar Reviews.

Several bar brands have come out with new lines that are just a slight variation from their other products. But Pure Organic Ancient Grain & Nut Crispy Bars have several degrees of separation between them and the original Pure Bars line up. These date-less bars have more  of a granola vibe, but with crispy little bites of popular gluten-free grains.

Pure Organic Ancient Grain and Crispy Nut Bars (Review with Ingredients and More) - Vegan, Gluten-Free

Tasting Notes for Pure Organic Ancient Grain Bars

They had four flavors of these bars, but according to their website, they’ve trimmed the product line to include just these two:

    Peanut Butter Chocolate

Both Tony and I really enjoyed this bar. It has a deep underlying peanut butter flavor, pleasant cocoa backdrop, and seamless, perfectly sweet taste. It’s crunchy and chewy with just the right amount of interest going on.

Ingredients – peanuts*, tapioca syrup*, agave syrup*, quinoa*, peanut butter* (peanuts*), cane sugar*, semisweet chocolate* (chocolate*, cane sugar*, cocoa butter*), brown rice*, peanut flour*, cocoa*, amaranth*, sea salt flaxseeds*, baking soda, hemp seeds*, natural flavor*. *Organic. Contains peanut ingredients. Made on equipment that handles tree nuts.

    Vanilla Almond

We weren’t as wowed by this variety, which is surprising since vanilla is usually my favorite flavor. The almonds took center stage, playing off of the grainy base, but they didn’t taste quite as fresh as hoped. Nonetheless, the vanilla eventually emerges for a pleasant finish.

Ingredients – almonds*, tapioca syrup*, brown rice*, quinoa*, agave syrup*, almond butter*, cane sugar*, sacha inchi protein*, amaranth*, natural flavor, flaxseeds*, cashew butter*, sea salt, hemp seeds*, rosemary extract* for freshness. *Organic. Contains almond and cashew ingredients. Made on equipment that handles peanuts and other tree nuts.
