Rawmio Organic Raw Chocolate Truffle Cakes

I couldn’t think of better gifts for those who doubt the decadence of dairy-free diets than Rawmio Chocolate Truffle Cakes.

Far more dense, dark truffle than fluffy cake, Rawmio Chocolate Truffle Cakes are actually packaged like a giant peanut butter cups. But beyond the shape, they bear no real resemblance to those over-processed treats. Rather, the chocolate truffle cakes are low-glycemic and made exclusively with pure, raw ingredients: cacao nibs, coconut flakes, coconut sugar, cashews, sprouted almond, currants, cacao butter, coconut sugar-sweetened cacao nibs, and Celtic sea salt.

Tasting Notes for Rawmio Organic Chocolate Truffle Cakes

As you can see from the picture, Rawmio Organic Chocolate Truffle Cakes have two layers. The bottom is an intense and firm dark chocolate base spiked with crunchy nut chunks. The dark chocolate taste is much like a 80% cacao dark chocolate.  The thick top layer is as fudgy as it looks, with a rich, deep milk chocolate vibe. It’s rustic rather than refined. Both the texture and the taste have definite hints of coconut. So I don’t recommend these chocolate truffle cakes for the coconut-averse. I loved the creaminess, but my favorite part was actually the crunchy cacao nib topping. It took the whole experience to another level.

Though it is quite amazing as is, if I could make any changes to these raw chocolate truffle cakes, I would make them into “pies” with a softer raw chocolate crust that melds a little better with the top fudge layer. As is, it is a bit hard to cut or bite into without the layers completely separating. And I have mixed feelings about the ever-present coconut in the top layer. At times, it hits the spot, but sometimes I wish it were heavier in creamy cashew.

Nonetheless, Rawmio Chocolate Truffle Cakes are an incredible indulgence and the perfect gift for just about any chocoholic on your list (from paleo to vegan)! The packaging is perfect – adorable, personable, well-contained for shipment, and well thought out. You even get the message “Edible Love Inside” when you lift the lid! And really, for the quality and intensity (there is NO way you could eat this one sitting), it’s an impressive value.

This is a unique, rustic, rich and pure treat that is more reminiscent of a big chocolate-coconut fudge cup than cake. Fortunately, I prefer dense and decadent chocolate desserts, and this one was definitely crafted to impress healthy cacao-holics. I just wish the firm chocolate base was a little more cohesive with the thick fudgy layer.
