Admittedly, when I first sampled Ruby Rocket’s Frozen Pops at Expo West a couple of years ago, I was underwhelmed. But odd as it may sound, the real problem wasn’t the pops, it was the setting.
You see, Expo West is this massive show where everyone is attempting to wow with functional and free-from foods. I had just come off of dairy-free salted caramel ice cream tastings and a probiotic pop sounded like a good idea. But the flavors seemed so subtle next to that flavor-injected ice cream, I simply wasn’t wowed.
Fast forward to just a few weeks ago when a surprising shipment of Ruby Rocket’s frozen pops arrived at my home (yes they ship!). I put them in my freezer and planned to give the boxes to a friend with food allergic kids. But one day after a workout, I was hot and craving something more than water. I looked at the ingredients of the Ruby Rocket’s frozen pops and was elated to see no added sugars … just fruit and vegetable purees, a little fruit juice, dairy-free probiotics and a wee bit of monk fruit extract. In total, it was just 25 to 35 calories of low sugar, sweet hydration.
And let me tell you, at that moment, I discovered my post-workout bliss. With heightened taste buds from exercise (rather than dulled ones from a sugar overload!) Ruby Rocket’s frozen pops were the perfect refreshment with just the right amount of sweet and flavor. They left me feeling good, better in fact … refreshed and satisfied.
I trialed three flavors of the Ruby Rocket’s Frozen Pops and to no surprise, the Orbit Orange was my hands down favorite. The Rock-It Red and Galaxy Green Frozen Pops were also enjoyable, but I’ve been an orange-lover for as long as I can remember. And as you might have guessed, my friend’s poor kids didn’t receive a single one of my pops. I’ll make sure they get some of their own!

What Others Are Saying ...
Great, healthier alternative for kids
Don’t expect a sugary rush. Rather, Ruby Rocket’s are a just-sweet-enough smoothie fruit and vegetable blend, stocked with probiotics and frozen into fun pops. While they are a great, healthier alternative for kids, I loved them for a refreshment “treat” post-workout. They revitalized, tamed my tummy, and tasted a whole lot better than plain old water.
