Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas Offer a Global Array of Flavors

    1
By Alisa Fleming on January 14, 2013 Dairy-Free Snack Reviews, Product Reviews

It was nothing short of a miracle when I saw my husband reach into a bowl filled with sweet snacks and pull out the crunchy chickpeas to nosh. He then proceeded to power them back like an indulgent bag of potato chips. I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised, Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas really are delicious. But still, Tony willingly snacking on chickpeas?

Tasting Notes for Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas

Overall these crunchy chickpeas are cooked up to a perfect chip-like crisp, and each variety is packed with flavor. I think I’ve already established that they are addictive, but it isn’t very often that a guilty pleasure is this darn wholesome.

I also love that they are so shelf-stable, and seem to retain their crisp even after a few days of being open. While they lasted, these flavorful crunchy chickpeas were our go-to for snacking and for protein-packed “croutons” atop lunch salads. We sampled three flavors of Saffron Road Crunchy Chickpeas.

    Bombay Spice

Simply scrumptious! This one is lightly spicy, but more flavorful than hot, and rich with paprika, onion, and pepper.

    Wasabi

Way less spicy than expected! The wasabi is delicious, but we found them to be almost sweet-savory with a kick. This isn’t an “in your face” wasabi snack, but there is just enough to let you know it’s there.

    Falafel

These crunchy chickpeas really do almost taste like a falafel! They had an excellent savory flavor with a surprising little dose of spice.

*These flavors do not state milk in any ingredients, but are certified kosher dairy. See the kosher note below. Also, avoid their chocolate-covered chickpeas, which contain milk. Online, they do not list the Buffalo as containing milk, but we looked at an actual bag, and on the packaging it does state “contains milk.”
