Saffron Road convenient chicken bites and nuggets caught my eye in the store for a few reasons:
Certified gluten-free – A quick meal or snack for Tony – I’m always on the lookout for easy things to fill in the hunger gaps with him!
Certified humane, vegetarian feed chicken – The chicken in their products is rouced from small sustainably run farms with 100% vegetarian feed and they are never given antibiotics (according to the packaging).
Made with chicken breast meat – No fillers, no “pressed patties,” just lean white meat pieces.
Tasting Notes for Saffron Road Chicken Bites
The gluten-free Saffron Road Chicken Bites were our favorite. They had a light but pleasant coating that added mild flavor and helped to seal in the moisture for tender chicken bites.
The Chicken Tenders were also delicious. Although we liked the extra breading to chicken ratio in the bites a little better.
The Tandoori-Seasoned Chicken Nuggets were the best value. They are seasoned rather than coated, so it is really 8 ounces of pure meat. However, the lack of coating made them a bit dry, and we would have loved a little more flavor and spice in the seasoning. They look firey, but they are really very tame!
Since we were enjoying them for lunch (one box feeds one to two people as a meal and with a side), I served them with a little curry creamed spinach. Delish!

Good for a quick and wholesome appetizer
We liked the light breading on the gluten-free chicken bites, which stayed nice and tender on the inside. A little outside of my budget, but good for a quick and wholesome appetizer when those chicken strip cravings strike!
