Silk AlmondMilk Yogurt is More Than a Dairy Alternative

    8
By Alisa Fleming on January 22, 2020 Dairy-Free Yogurt Reviews, Product Reviews

I must say that they really knocked it out of the park with this product line. Silk AlmondMilk Yogurt is a perfectly thick, wonderfully creamy dairy-free yogurt with the most delicious flavors.

Silk AlmondMilk Yogurt also has a short and sweet ingredient list. Plus, each flavor boasts a natural dose of protein (5 to 6 grams) and plant-based fats (11 to 13 grams) from the almond base. They don’t yet have an unsweetened variety, which I would love to see. But the Plain has just 6 grams of sugar, while maintaining an enjoyable taste.

The flavored varieties clock in at 15 to 17 grams of sugar per single-serve container, making them a bit more of a treat in our household (much like their soy-based yogurts). But the wholesome ingredients and live and active cultures do bump them up a notch from your typical dessert. And they really do satisfy as a sweet reward.

Silk AlmondMilk Yogurt Alternative (Review) - Dairy-free, Soy-free, Vegan and a Sweet Ingredient List

Silk AlmondMilk Yogurt is Now Sold in Seven Flavors

As mentioned, each flavor is perfectly thick with a near seamless creamy finish. The yogurt spoons with ease, and isn’t runny in the slightest. And since it is free of gums and carrageenan there aren’t any gelatinous oddities either. In my opinion, this is dairy-free yogurt how it should be.

Silk Almondmilk Yogurt is actually so natural, that I was able to make this Dairy-Free Yogurt Cheese Recipe with it. And believe me, it is AMAZING. I used the Plain variety, which has a lightly sweet finish, but can still be paired with savories. And trust me, not all dairy-free yogurts work as yogurt cheese. But this one definitely does.

I love all kinds of yogurts, and sometimes I even enjoy coconut yogurt and eggnog yogurt. The almond plain yogurt was the worst thing I’ve ever eaten. It tastes like bland baby food. I could not finish.

This is a delicious product and for those who wish to have a vegan yogurt it is very good. How they have managed to make something taste so well, I do not know. I hope they make one which is sugarless soon.

    My Go-To Yogurt

I LOVE this yogurt! I have tried a couple different varieties/brands, and I always come back to this one! I have tried the various flavors, and they are okay, but the vanilla is just incredible. It has a great texture and flavor. It is super sweet (I have a major sweet tooth), so if you don’t like sweets too much, then maybe stay away. My FAVORITE thing to do is mix in a tablespoon or so of nut butter for breakfast.

    Strawberry SIlk Almodmilk Yogurt

    Rated 3 out of 5
    January 2, 2020

This is my first taste of a non-dairy yogurt. I have to say the strawberry flavor taste 100% like a latex interior wall paint at first. It’s unbelievable how similar it tastes to paint, and the texture even fits! But it gets better, once you get past the initial taste the yogurt is sweet and creamy!

I love the strawberry and vanilla flavors! I top the strawberry with fresh strawberries and mix pineapple in with my vanilla! Awesome way to get both some protein and a fruit in!

Disappointed at first by the flavor of the coconut/chocolate but pleasantly surprised by the vanilla and strawberry flavors. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I love the taste of yogurt but hate what it does to my body. The soy option in the flavors I enjoy will now be my go to as a dairy free yogurt alternative.

Just before a migraine, I get the insatiable urge for chocolate, not completely uncommon. I have found the dark chocoholic coconut the perfect satisfaction for that need. I love it!

That’s so interesting. Glad this one fits the bill!

What a great yogurt! I love how creamy it is and how it still has some protein. The peach flavor sounds delicious.

      • Alisa Fleming on April 17, 2018 7:17 am

Yes, definitely one of the more “pure” brands.

    5. Sarah on April 16, 2018 5:28 pm

I’ve only tried the plain for yogurt cheese but I do have 2 chocolate in the fridge! I thought I picked up a strawberry but not sure what happened to it. After reading this I’m even more excited to try the chocolate as is and not strain it, maybe even for dessert tonight!

      • Alisa Fleming on April 16, 2018 5:52 pm

Yes, I definitely recommend giving the chocolate a try before straining – it is such a delicious dessert!
