Europeans are quite familiar with dairy-free heavy cream. Most of their natural food stores carry several varieties. But in North America, we’ve been limited on options. For decades, we’ve relied on coconut cream and homemade cashew cream in recipes, but some store-bought choices are beginning to emerge. A couple of years ago, creamy Carnation Almond Cooking Milk popped up, and now Silk Dairy Free Heavy Whipping Cream is entering the mix.
This thicker, but pourable blend is made for cooking, baking, and whipping, and it’s been silently sneaking onto refrigerated store shelves.
Silk Dairy Free Heavy Whipping Cream is Making a Stir
Unlike most dairy-free cream, this ready-to-pour carton isn’t filled with coconut cream. Instead, it’s a stabilized emulsion of oils and waters that’s made without top allergens, and is even pea protein-free (for those of you with cross-reactivity from peanut allergies). But it still contains coconut!

I’m not vegan but I LOVE it!!!
I’m not vegan, but I have been trying to get away from dairy where I can. I’ve tried almost every non dairy creamer..trying to stay away from coffee Mate, and they all left me disappointed to some degree. I hate the taste of coconut in my coffee so a lot of those options I didn’t even try. When I tried this One it was with some trepidation but boy was I pleasantly surprised!!! I’ve told all of my vegan friends…esp those who bake, and now I’m telling YOU!!! Run don’t walk…and enjoy ?!!!
Amazing substitute for dairy whipping cream!
It’s perfect in just about every way I’ve tested it. It cooks without separating, it whips to soft peaks (stiff peaks if you let it split and drain off the liquid), and you can even make butter with it!
Perfect heavy whipping cream substitute!
I stumbled across this at Walmart yesterday. The taste , texture and smell were perfect. I added a touch of Sugar in the Raw and proceeded to make a delicious “whipped cream” that seriously passed muster. I topped some fresh blackberries with the “whipped cream” and I was in heaven!! The taste, color, smell and texture all said “whipped cream yay!” without any disappointments. I can’t wait to cook/bake with it and I have no criticisms!! Love, love, love Silk Dairy Free Heavy Whipping Cream and highly recommend it!
