Every time I saw a picture of Silk Oat Yeah Oatmilk, I thought of the Kool-Aid man busting through a wall, shouting “Oh Yeah!” Apparently, the people at Silk also realized the odd correlation to those sugar packets, because they’ve dropped the overly enthusiastic name. It’s now simply called Silk Oatmilk, and it’s now available in four versatile varieties.
Silk Oatmilk Gives Us Something New to Shout About
According to Silk, you can feel good about enjoying their oatmilk for sustainability, too. It reportedly has a smaller footprint than most other types of milk alternatives, which have a baby footprint compared to dairy milk. But how does it taste? You can leave your own rating and review below!
Original (formula updated October 2020)
The subtle flavor of this simple oatmilk might make the transition easy for dairy-free newbies. It’s fairly neutral in taste, and is free of added sugars. The 4 grams of sugar in each serving is from the oats themselves.
Ingredients: oatmilk (filtered water, oat concentrate), sunflower oil, vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2, riboflavin [b2], vitamin b12), dipotassium phosphate, sea salt, gellan gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness). Produced on equipment shared with dairy and soy; see their website for details on their food allergen processes.*
Nutrition (per 1 cup serving): 90 calories, 3.5g fat, 13g carbs, 0g fiber, 5g sugars (including 5g added sugar), 1g protein. Fortified with 35% calcium, 20% vitamin D, 25% vitamin A, 25% riboflavin, and 100% vitamin B12 of the RDA.*
0g Sugar
Oats naturally convert to sugars during the enzymatic process of making creamier oatmilk. But they’ve created another step in the production chain to remove all sugars for this sugar-free variety.
Ingredients: oatmilk (filtered water, whole grain oat flour), 2% or less of: sunflower oil, vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2, riboflavin [b2], vitamin b12), dipotassium phosphate, gellan gum, sea salt, locust bean gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness), natural flavor. Produced on equipment shared with dairy and soy; see their website for details on their food allergen processes.*
Nutrition (per 1 cup serving): 60 calories, 3g fat, 7g carbs, 1g fiber, 0g sugars, 1g protein. Fortified with 35% calcium, 15% vitamin D, 25% vitamin A, 25% riboflavin, and 100% vitamin B12 of the RDA.*
Extra Creamy
A notch up in indulgence from the Plain variety, the Extra Creamy is a little sweeter and a little richer. No watery oat milk here!
Ingredients: oatmilk (filtered water, oat concentrate), sunflower oil, vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2, riboflavin, vitamin b12), dipotassium phosphate, sea salt, gellan gum, locust bean gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness), natural flavor. Produced on equipment shared with dairy and soy; see their website for details on their food allergen processes.*

Vanilla (formula updated October 2020)
It has just 2 grams more sugar, but this flavored version is notably sweeter then the plain one. But they are similar in other nutrients and consistency.
Ingredients: oatmilk (filtered water, oat concentrate), sunflower oil, cane sugar, vitamin and mineral blend (calcium carbonate, vitamin a palmitate, vitamin d2, riboflavin [b2], vitamin b12), dipotassium phosphate, sea salt, gellan gum, ascorbic acid (to protect freshness), natural flavor. Produced on equipment shared with dairy and soy; see their website for details on their food allergen processes.*

Discontinued Flavors
When they rebranded from “Oat Yeah” to just Oat Milk, the Chocolate flavor was dropped from the line.

What Others Are Saying ...
The plain one - Weird smell, stronger aftertaste than other oat milks
I tried “The Plain One.” Maybe the flavored ones are better, but this one is bad.
The smell is off putting. If you’ve ever made paper mache, that’s what it reminds me of. I can normally drink oat milk by itself, but this brand the smell makes it too much and I can’t stomach trying to just drink this stuff straight up.
Also, it has a STRONG oat taste, which you’d think would be the point of oat milk but other brands are not this strong and don’t overpower whatever you’re eating. When eating a bowl of cinnamon cereal I would like to taste the cereal and not feeling like I just stuffed a handful of raw oats in my mouth with a little sprinkle of cinnamon.
All in all, if you have another option that you can go for, I would go for it and not waste your money on this stuff.
Doesn't warn about gluten!
I am sitting here with a huge bloated stomach feeling very uncomfortable and confused. The only thing new is the Silk Oat Milk. Aha! Barley! Disguised in the ingredient list as malt. That will teach me not to read ALL the words on the carton. The malt is from Barley and barley contains gluten and there is no warning on the carton. I have used lots of silk products and am really disappointed that they didn’t make the gluten known in a visible manner that folks would notice right away. Silk has been my favourite soy milk and chances are I will use it but I am not happy about the lack of gluten warning on the oat milk.
Response from Go Dairy Free
Just as a note, gluten is not a top allergen (wheat is), so manufacturers are not required to call out gluten ingredients on labels. Silk is following the labeling laws. They also do not appear to source gluten-free oats. If you have a gluten issue, I would stick to oatmilk and other product specifically certified as gluten-free and/or that use certified gluten-free oats.
Oat yeah vanilla
The oat milk I use at work is super strong and I can’t stand how much it tastes like oatmeal lol so I decided to try the vanilla oat yeah and I am SO obsessed. I put mine in my iced coffee and it gives it a subtle vanilla flavor with a creamy texture but none of the “oaty” flavor. I haven’t tried it by itself because I prefer silk almond milk for my cereal which isn’t as thick, etc.
Smells like play doh!
I tried this Oat milk when my store ran out of my preferred oat milk. Yuck! Smells like play doh and tastes horrible, my stomach is not happy either!
Taste is not great
I have been using the Thrive Market brand Oat Milk for quite some time. Because I always have to order it online, I ventured out to the store and got the Silk version. It has a MUCH stronger oat taste than the Thrive one, and I didn’t like it at all. I gave it two stars because it is convenient to buy, but I honestly can’t see myself swapping to this.
Chocolate is great!
I love the chocolate Oat Yeah. For someone with Soy and Tree Nut allergies, this has been so great to have. I’m in Toronto and it’s available in WalMart and Freshco.
So bad
Texture is slimy. Taste is bitter. Will never purchase again.!
Tastes really good
Tastes really good and goes down smoothly. Good also for blended drinks
Better milk
It taste better then the other silk milk I ever taste before
Fantastic! Product!
I tried this product while visiting my daughter in California. It was creamy, smooth, not sweet and it’s delicious. I’m trying to find it in Canada, but no luck yet. Hope it makes it to market here.
