There are a lot of low-calorie, dairy-free ice creams emerging, but Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat shuns any type of funny business. They go wild with healthy ingredients in their exotic ice cream flavors, and avoid sugar alcohols. Each flavor is sweetened naturally with fruit and fruit juice, and a few varieties have a touch of maple syrup added.
Snow Monkey Wants You to Eat No Evil with their Dairy-Free Ice Cream
When I spotted Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat at Whole Foods, I assumed they had a wildlife conservation mission, like Endangered Species. But the image refers more to their banana base and “no evil” ingredients. In fact, the ingredient lists read like healthy smoothie recipes!

Additional Allergen Notes*
I asked the company about potential cross-contamination issues with allergens, since I was concerned that the “made in a facility” warning wasn’t the whole story. They shared the following information:
Our products are free from all 8 major allergens including gluten, dairy, soy, and nuts. They are also made in a dedicated nut-free facility. The only major allergen that is handled on the same line as our products is milk. However, our products undergo intensive allergen testing to ensure there is no traces of any of the major allergens both. This testing is conducted in the manufacturing facility as well as by a private, third party laboratory.

Not a treat
I decided to try the matcha flavor…really wanted to like this and I do appreciate the healthy concept. Unfortunately it’s just not very good. Flavor is overwhelming apple, it’s very ‘smoothie’ tasting which isn’t terrible but not what I’m looking for as a treat. Texture’s not great, it’s very icy and hard – I have to chip away chunks from the tub. If you must try this I’d recommend going with the chocolate flavor. I can’t guarantee it’s any better but I think the overwhelming fruitiness would pair better with chocolate vs matcha.
terrible taste but healthy I guess?
bought the passion fruit and chocolate tonight and was eager to try
wow not sure i’ll be finishing these or maybe i’ll struggle through it
taste is awful.. not sure how this product made it to store shelves
What the???? How the???? This stuff is too hard to eat!
I bought this from Sprouts market the other day and put it in my freezer. I was excited to try and when I opened it and tried to scoop it, my spoon bent! This stuff freezes so hard I can’t even scoop it! Plus it doesn’t really taste that great.
This was a big let down 🙁
FAIL…..
Just yuck.
I am vegan, gluten free. I make my own banana ice cream at home. I found Snow Money — chocolate mint — and was excited for the new sweet treat. There is such a strong aftertaste and odd texture that eating the ice cream becomes unbearable. There re so many strong flavors that don’t mix wel—heavy banana taste, chocolate, apple, peppermint — and I could taste all of it. Very conflicting. Gross. Still taste it unfortunately.
Very good!!!
Allot of these vegan ice cream are either nut based or just weird lab tasting icy.. you know what I mean if you eat this stuff. Im really surprised the creamy texture of this ice cream without the calories. Its my new favorite!
Yuck
Overall a very underwhelming purchase. I love that the ingredients are wholesome and nutritional, but all the flavor tasted like was bananas, which I don’t particularly like anyway.. I purchased the maple fudge flavor. No wonder they were on clearance. Not even remotely the taste of the namesake…and just not tasty period.
The chocolate is AMAZING!!
I’ve tried most of their flavors. All great. But the chocolate is beyond excellent. I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds straight from the freezer. It’s the best!!
Horrible!
This is, without a doubt, the worst tasting ice cream substitute ever. I bought the chocolate mint chip. Awful! After a couple of bites, I tossed it. It looked so promising; but was nasty.
Had the opportunity to be so much better!
This is the worst plant-based, vegan ice cream I have ever tasted. What were they thinking? I paid almost $10 for a pint and ended up throwing it away. With so many amazing ingredients that can be used to make vegan ice cream, I can’t believe this is the best they can do. Please hire a competent formulator to fix your awful tasting product! Yuck, just plain yuck!
Horrible
I have lots of food sensitivities so I was excited to find something I could eat in the “ice cream” department. This is absolutely horrible! It’s a sorbet, earthy, creamy mix of everything wrong. No resemblance to chocolate mint whatsoever. Wasted money.
