There are a lot of low-calorie, dairy-free ice creams emerging, but Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat shuns any type of funny business. They go wild with healthy ingredients in their exotic ice cream flavors, and avoid sugar alcohols. Each flavor is sweetened naturally with fruit and fruit juice, and a few varieties have a touch of maple syrup added.
Snow Monkey Wants You to Eat No Evil with their Dairy-Free Ice Cream
When I spotted Snow Monkey Superfood Ice Treat at Whole Foods, I assumed they had a wildlife conservation mission, like Endangered Species. But the image refers more to their banana base and “no evil” ingredients. In fact, the ingredient lists read like healthy smoothie recipes!

Additional Allergen Notes*
I asked the company about potential cross-contamination issues with allergens, since I was concerned that the “made in a facility” warning wasn’t the whole story. They shared the following information:
Our products are free from all 8 major allergens including gluten, dairy, soy, and nuts. They are also made in a dedicated nut-free facility. The only major allergen that is handled on the same line as our products is milk. However, our products undergo intensive allergen testing to ensure there is no traces of any of the major allergens both. This testing is conducted in the manufacturing facility as well as by a private, third party laboratory.

Amazing, delicious, light
Snow Monkey is a delicious ice treat that leaves me feeling super light and not with a horrible after-ice cream feeling, like a lot of ice creams do. It feels like I had a nutritious tasty snack every time, and doesn’t have that awful sugar effect still lingering in my mouth. It’s a great healthy alternative brand. Keep producing the chocolate brand please!!!! It’s my favorite 😋😋😋
I am so happy to have found these!
I was honestly shocked to see all the negative responses. I think the flavor people may not be enjoying is the added hemp protein powder. It can be distinct, but I enjoy it so I guess it may lean more in favor of those who enjoy that. I really like that there is not added sugars and even the amount there is, is not anything compared to say an oat milk ice cream. I also like that it has fiber in it. A way healthier alternative compared to your normal icecream. Do keep in mind, since it is fruit based it does have more of an icey/gelato consistency.
The absolute worst
I figured I would try something new so I tried the green tea matcha and it was the worst dairy free dessert I’ve ever tasted. It had a gritty taste as if it was too much powder mixture. I’m going to stick with So Delicious and Cado.
Never Knew Ice-cream Can Mess Up This Bad
the taste is so gross. I have tasted BETTER low-calorie ice cream.
How on Earth Did They Get This Into Fred Meyer
We tried the “chocolate” apple, banana. Somehow after 30 minutes of eating it, still have a weird apple taste lingering. They should not call it chocolate, because we were obviously expecting chocolate. I would rather eat a banana and an apple for a healthy treat. I will say that the texture wasn’t too bad though, maybe a bit crumbly but wasn’t grainy.
Absolutely Horrid
I have been vegan for 15 years, I have had countless brands of dairy free ice cream during that time. This is, no contest, the worst ice cream I have ever had. It was sour and bitter, I took a single bite and the aftertaste lingered for a good 5 minutes.
Delicious and Allergen Friendly!
I have food allergies, specifically Celiac disease, and this GF, Dairy-Free, and Nut-Free Ice cream was perfect for my Allergen needs. It was also so absolutely delicious – I will be ordering more asap! It made me feel great, as well. I have a sensitivity to processed sugar, so the fact that it is sweetened naturally with fruit or maple syrup helps me not feel terrible afterward. The ordering process was amazing – their interaction is so fun and playful. Great company!
DISGUSTING
I had such high hopes for this brand. We recently switched to dairy free in our home and I heard this brand was founded by women! My husband and I took 2 different flavors and after one bite of each they went straight to the trash! So gross! I normally LOVE healthy foods but these were just a big FAIL!
By far the worst "healthy" ice cream I have tasted: truly terrible
I paid $8 for a pint of Snow Monkey chocolate, since it’s worth it to me if I can find a product which is dairy & gluten free & has no added sugar; the ingredients sounded like winners. The texture wasn’t bad, but this stuff tastes just plain AWFUL. There is not a trace of chocolate flavor (I happily eat 85%, so it’s not that it’s too strong– you would never know it included chocolate in a blind tasting). There is also only a trace of banana flavor. The dominant flavor is a terrible chemical flavor, which leaves a long-lasting terrible aftertaste. I guess maybe it’s the hemp? Or the acacia gum? Or some combination of them. I think this is the first ice cream I have ever thrown away, but I wouldn’t offer it to anyone else.
Ice cream should be fun to eat. This is not fun to eat.
