So Delicious Dairy Free Cococcino Iced Coffee Beverages (DISCONTINUED)

By Alisa Fleming on June 12, 2014 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

Like so many other products, So Delicious Cococcino Iced Coffee Beverages didn’t survive on the market. But, we have a whole round-up of Creamy, Ready-to-Drink, Dairy-Free Coffee Beverages for you to enjoy.

Dairy-free java lovers rejoice, So Delicious has emerged with two chilled coffee beverages under their new Cococcino label. Both are certified organic, gluten-free, vegan, and kosher, non-GMO verified, and made with fair trade coffee and cocoa (Mocha only). Wow, talk about an over-achieving beverage!

So Delicious Dairy Free Cococcino - Coconut Milk Iced Latte

I tried sips of each, but since I’m far from a coffee fan, I passed the bulk of this review onto my husband and niece. They cover two types of coffee drinkers: Tony takes his coffee black, but each mug gets a couple teaspoons of sweetener; Kylie isn’t a purist by any means – she always goes for the flavored mocha that is beyond sweet!

Tony was a bigger fan of the Latte Cococcino, which had a little more pure coffee goodness (note that he loves chocolate, but has never ordered a mocha – ever). He thought both Cococcino drinks were quite tasty, and he had no problem in polishing them off, but felt that they were a little too sweet for daily drinking. Or I should say, he feared that if more Cococcino chilled coffees were in the house, his sweet tooth would encourage him to mindlessly down them! Tasty, but dangerous was essentially his verdict.

Kylie said the Latte was “good” but the Mocha Cococcino was “really good”. Her vote was highly anticipated since the Mocha has a little more sweetener plus the addition of chocolate. Though she liked it a lot, the underlying slight coconut flavor kept her from going back the next day for another (she has no problem eating foods with coconut, so long as she can’t taste it).

So Delicious Dairy Free Cococcino - Coconut Milk Iced Mocha

To close, I’ll briefly chime in with my general tasting notes on Cococcino. Both the Mocha and Latte had a creamy coconut milk finish and tasted indulgent, but not overly sweet, with deep bean flavors. These are far from low sugar, but Cococcino is lower than several other premade iced coffees thanks to a sweetening combo of dried cane syrup and monk fruit extract (which tempers the sugars, but not the sweetness). I do agree with Kylie that coconut super-tasters will likely detect hints of that tropical fruit in Cococcino, but the coconut flavor isn’t highly assertive and actually went largely unnoticed by my husband.

Oh, and before I forget, Cococcino is also great in recipes, too! I made this Healthy Dairy-Free and Vegan Latte Shake, which Tony loved…
