So Delicious Dairy Free Frozen Mousse (REBRANDED)

    23
By Alisa Fleming on December 22, 2019 Discontinued Products, Product Reviews

This line isn’t really discontinued, but it is now So Delicious Dairy Free Light Frozen Dessert. Since some of these varieties are still available in Canada, and the new line has a new name, look, and some different flavors, we’ve created a separate post for the So Delicious Light Ice Cream.

I was really nervous to try the new line of So Delicious Dairy Free Mousse. It’s frozen dessert that’s low calorie – just 300 to 330 calories per whole pint. I know light pints are all the rage, but until now, the dairy-free brands had failed to impress me. They either have a bitter protein powder vibe or the overwhelming taste of sugar alternatives. But I should have known that So Delicious would never release a sub-par frozen dessert. Their mousse is a little like those other brands, but it’s been perfected.

Each pint of So Delicious Dairy Free Mousse contains three (2/3 cup) servings. And each serving has 100 to 110 calories, 3 to 4 grams fat, 3 grams fiber, 9 grams sugar, 4 grams sugar alcohol, and 0 grams protein. In theory, you could knock back an entire pint without tipping your daily calorie intake over the top. BUT, I think a serving really is enough. I taste-tested my way through each flavor (just a couple spoonfuls each), and it was more than enough dessert to satisfy.

So Delicious Dairy Free Mousse - low calorie, light and creamy, vegan frozen dessert. Ingredients, tasting notes, availability, and more here ...

So Delicious Frozen Mousse is Unbelievably Soft, Creamy & Dairy Free

I was a little confused by the mousse name at first, but it’s a frozen mousse. It’s light, whipped, and very creamy. While still frozen, it does have a wonderfully smooth mousse consistency, but don’t let it sit at room temperature! It’s melty like soft ice cream and is meant to be eaten chilled.

If you eat CocoWhip by the spoonful (you know who you are!) then you are going to love So Delicious Dairy Free Mousse. It’s got a similar underlying flavor and vibe, but with an ice cream influence. Since it’s made with coconut oil, not coconut cream, there isn’t an overwhelming coconut flavor, but it is a touch notable at times. All of the varieties are made with the same base, and are swirled with the respective flavor.

    Chocolate Chip

I absolutely loved this pint! It is stocked with wonderful semi-sweet chocolate shards and a gentle fudgy ribbon that provides a light chocolate infusion throughout.

    Strawberrry Swirl

The generous swirls taste like homemade strawberry syrup and meld nicely with the sweet, creamy backdrop.

    Cranberry Cherry Swirl

This mousse has an interesting burst of sweet, tart fruitiness that beckons to a cherry sundae. I did taste the coconut just a smidgen more in this one, as the flavors seemed to dance around.

    Lemon Swirl

The lemon has this interesting natural zest and rich citrus flavor throughout. Yet somehow, it isn’t exactly what I expected from a lemon mousse. It’s probably the most intriguing of the lot, and it magically resisted melting a few minutes longer than the rest.

    Salted Caramel Swirl

Mmm, mmm, MMM! I adored the rich, deep, salted caramel ribbon and big shards of semi-sweet chocolate throughout. This one-upped the Chocolate Chip and could be my favorite flavor of So Delicious Dairy Free Mousse.

    Peanut Butter Swirl

The rich, sweetened peanut butter swirl reminds me of the center of a peanut butter cup. I’ve always felt that peanut butter and coconut play nicely together, and this mousse is no exception.

    Mango Swirl

The mango is deep with a pure, sweet, tart taste that stands out in each bite. I didn’t think the flavor was quite as seamless as some of the others, but mango and coconut always seem to work together.

Only had peanut butter swirl in my store in CT…but it was so creamy and delicious….amazing for a non-dairy….some leave a mouth feel…the coconut ones do….but this was not at all. Totally recommend and the calories…what’s not to like!

I didn’t know I was buying a mousse. I like lots of the diary free ice creams by several brands. So when i took my first bite, it was like heaven! Why is it so FLUFFY! I didn’t know until I put the lid back on and saw it was mousse. I’ll never be able to eat regular again!

It has rebranded as Light Ice Cream, with new white packaging that looks quite different. But it is still the same “frozen mousse!” -> https://www.godairyfree.org/product-reviews/so-delicious-dairy-free-light-ice-cream

Finally, an incredible dairy free frozen dessert that makes me feel totally indulged. Both texture and taste are amazing. No, I WON’T share my pint! It is so, so delicious. By far, the chocolate chip is my favorite, with lemon second best. Unfortunately, my local store only stocked it once…and I will have to beg them to restock it.

Make sure to ask them for the Light Ice Cream – same product, but new name and new look. They no longer have the lemon, but still make the chocolate chip -> https://www.godairyfree.org/product-reviews/so-delicious-dairy-free-light-ice-cream

This is so crave-worthy. I’m not dairy-free but I buy this anyway because it is decadent yet light. There’s nothing like it. I buy it literally every week of my life and sometimes prefer it even to the fancy artisanal ice creams I can buy in a shop.

Can’t get a reason why my local Sprouts is discontinuing this whole line!

Love the product. Where else near Vista, CA can I buy more of it?

I’m comparing the chocolate chip mousse to the recently discontinued Perfectly Free Fudge Swirl pints. They were very generously swirled with the fudge and the coconut base was deliciously creamy and not overly sweet. Your mousse base is way too sweet tasting and the chocolate chips were undetectable. Did not like the mousse- would prefer an ice cream texture. Not worth the price.

The best light dairy-free ice cream

    June 11, 2019

If you are looking for a light ice cream that’s truly creamy and has no funny aftertaste, then this is it. It’s smooth and rich, but very light and airy. We loved every flavor, but wish they had come out with a chocolate version. It begs to be chocolate. The coconut flavor is quite noticeable so I wouldn’t recommend this frozen dessert to the coconut averse.

I just tried the peanut butter swirl and it was SO GOOD! I wish they had the strawberry available where I live. But either way this is amazing! So soft and full of sweet flavor! I was worried it would be like Halo Top which I’ve found has no flavor and is just bad. But it’s nothing like that. It’s just really good and yummy!

I found this at Plum Market in Chicago and tried the chocolate chip and the lemon and fell in love…so light and airy, I do add some good dark chowcolate shaves to my lemon mousse to punch it up a bit but overall, for the calorie count, the taste and satisfaction, this is a MUST try it! I would love to work with this company, this is the exactly what we need if we want dairy and gluten free, low calorie desserts to satisfy without guilt. Stay clean with your daily intake, exercise and enjoy a bowl after dinner…you deserve it!

I just tried the SO mouse yesterday in Lemon Swirl what a waste of almost $6.00 had NO taste what so ever. this was a BIG disappointment and a waste of money.

      • Alisa Fleming on December 17, 2018 7:24 am

Are you serious?! Wow, that is so disappointing to hear. The Lemon had SO MUCH flavor when we tried it – I swear! I wonder if they’re shorting the lemon in production? I hope not.

I couldn’t tell you off hand, I don’t have the packaging in front of me. Generally lower carb than regular dairy-free ice cream.

    8. Kortney on July 17, 2018 12:15 am

So exciting to see a free from brand catering to the pint craze, which I can totally get behind! Was there enough swirl in them? It looks light on the swirls for my taste.

      • Alisa Fleming on July 17, 2018 6:35 am

It looks light, but the flavor is quite infused, so I would say definitely more swirl flavor than it looks like (and enough!)
