So Delicious Coconutmilk No Sugar Added Ice Cream has Changed

    19
By Alisa Fleming on August 29, 2012 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

Updated December 2020! After nearly a decade as one of America’s favorite dairy-free, sugar-free ice creams, So Delicious changed their formula. Yes, I’m sad to say that yet another brand has opted to mess with perfection in pursuit of the latest dietary trend. They added oatmilk to their No Sugar Added Ice Cream, increased the fat and calories, and reduced the carbohydrates. For some people, this move toward keto is good news. But for others who’ve loved this product for years … this isn’t the same product anymore.

So Delicious No Sugar Added Dairy-Free Ice Cream / Frozen Dessert - Reviews and Information - Dairy-Free, Soy-Free, Vegan

So Delicious Coconutmilk No Sugar Added Ice Cream has Changed

The formula change of So Delicious Coconutmilk No Sugar Added Ice Cream happened right at the end of 2020, so be sure to leave your own rating and review below once you’ve tried this new formula.

The texture of the prior recipe was awesome. It was so smooth and creamy that I looked like an ice cream parlor jockey serving up perfect round scoops. I did find the alternative sweeteners a little overpowering at times, but my taste buds adapted a little with each bite. That said, the new recipe of their no sugar added ice cream is higher in both fat and alternative sweeteners (the flavors have more sugar alcohols), so I’m curious to see how they compare. I’ll update with our own notes once we’ve tried it.

    Butter Pecan

This recipe doesn’t appear to be changed, so I’m leaving our prior tasting notes. The Butter Pecan was rich and filling – the way good ice cream should be. I’m a big fan of butter pecan, and really can’t get enough of the flavor. For that reason, I wished this one had a little more of that intense buttery flavor. Again, the sweeteners overpowered it a bit for me, but that didn’t stop me from sneaking spoonfuls throughout the day.

    New Delicious Recipe NOT!

    Rated 1 out of 5
    September 29, 2020

I was totally disgusted with the new recipe for the chocolate dairy free sugar free ice cream. I am so limited on my diet that it was my one enjoyment. It was so bad I tossed it. I’m willing to pay $5.99 for a tiny container but not if it tastes like garbage. They did NOT improve the flavor and I will NOT be purchasing again!

    So good!

    April 13, 2020

I have PCOS and am currently trying to make dietary changes to eliminate sugar, dairy, and gluten. Discovering this ice cream has been amazing! While it shouldn’t be a part of my staple diet (although it’s tempting!) I’ve been allowing myself to try a different flavor each weekend. SO good!! I think the vanilla is my fav so far, but I’ve yet to try the butter pecan.

    The chocolate is delicious

I’m not usually a chocolate ice cream fan but this was delicious. The vanilla is also tasty. I’m on Keto and these have been a wonderful treat that fit into my macros. I serve them with a few fresh berries, a little sugar free whipped cream and a few no sugar chocolate chips. I wish more stores near me carried the sugar free ones.

It’s very good however it’s not 1 gram of sugar per serving, it’s actually 6 grams of sugar per serving. You have to count the 5 grams of sugar alcohol per serving.

I live 30643 area code..I have tried so hard to buy the no sugar added mint chip with no success…I’ve tried to order vis Publix nearest me without luck. So disappointed.

      • Alisa Fleming on May 10, 2018 7:04 am

I wish I could help you Rebecca, but I’m not affiliated with them. You might want to contact So Delicious directly as I don’t see it available in your area when I searched their store locator on their website.

Your facility sounds as though lines and all tools are cleaned sufficiently for people with nut allergies. Am I just assuming? My granddaughters doctor said to find out whether nuts are processed in the facility before buying…please respond

      • Alisa Fleming on January 24, 2018 12:12 pm

Glenis, you would need to contact So Delicious directly to get allergen information on their facility. This is an unbiased third party review – Go Dairy Free is not affiliated with them.

    4. Barbara on November 9, 2017 8:40 am

But why did they need to add Carageenan to the ingredients? It’s a cancer-causing ingredient and makes this product a no-go for me.

      • Alisa Fleming on November 9, 2017 10:34 am

I’m not sure Barbara. They’ve reformulated a lot of their products to be carrageenan-free, but I guess they haven’t gotten to these yet. You might want to put in a request!

    5. Mabel Lane on October 9, 2017 7:58 am

My husband’s cancer diet is sugar, milk sweeteners (except Stevia) free. He loves the chocalate, but I can’t get it here in town. They don’t handle the no added sugar icecream. Can it be mailed directly to me?

      • Alisa Fleming on October 15, 2017 10:09 am

I haven’t seen a place that sells the So Delicious online. However, Halo Top recently started selling their new non-dairy ice cream online – I know it is much lower calorie, but I’m not 100% sure what sweeteners they use.

        • Rebecca on April 30, 2018 4:47 pm

I’ve been looking everywhere for the no sugar mint, even ordered it, but it never comes to they are lying to me and never order.

    6. Jillene on August 8, 2017 1:30 pm

One of your headlines says Do Delicious instead of So Delicious.

Oops, thanks Jillene! It’s fixed 🙂

I absolutely love the chocolate & mint and chip no sugar added. This is hands down the best find for me during a diet or just staying healthy.

Thanks for sharing your feedback Jessica!

Can I purchase your product at Publix Grocery in Georgia

    10. Lynn on August 30, 2012 9:41 am

Unfortunately, I’ve only been able to find the vanilla at the Whole Foods where I live. I agree with Cara, it’s fair…I asked the Whole Foods to please stock some of the other flavors, but to no avail…would love to try the rest as I too have sugar problems.

    11. Cara on August 29, 2012 5:02 pm

I dunno, Alisa, I am kind of with you on this one! And normally, I am someone who CAN stand stevia in things. I’ve had the chocolate and the vanilla from this bunch. I confess to buying the chocolate for an ice cream sundae party, so I probably missed what it actually tasted like by smothering it in candy 😉 But the vanilla… it was just “ehh” and sort of fake-tasting for me.
