Surf Sweets Gummy Candy is Allergy-Friendly and All-Natural

    1
By Sarah Hatfield on October 17, 2009 Dairy-Free Sweet Treat Reviews, Product Reviews

Fruit snacks have been our go-to, food allergy-friendly, emergency treat item for YEARS. So there was real excitement in my family when naturally-sweetened, corn syrup-free Surf Sweets Gummy Candy emerged.

Surf Sweets offers a variety of gummies, including worms, bears, and fruity rings in a few different flavors. All are made in their facility that is gluten-free and free of the top 10 allergens (including sulphites). They use organic ingredients, and have several Certified Organic products in the mix, too. My family had a chance to sample some of these sweet treats, and so did Leah. I’ve included tasting notes from all of us below.

Tasting Notes for Surf Sweets Gummy Candy

Overall, we were seriously impressed with these sweets. I especially loved that Surf Sweets Gummy Candy puts a healthier twist on these sugary snacks with simple real ingredients.

    Organic Jelly Beans

The jelly beans are the consistency of regular jelly beans, with really fresh fruit flavors. We loved how much variety of flavor there was in the bag. These are all naturally flavored, colored with organic fruit juice, and vegetarian, but not vegan.

Surf Sweets Gummy Candies and Jelly Beans Reviews and Info - Allergy-friendly, All-natural, Vegan OptionsIngredients: organic cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, organic grape juice concentrate, pectin, citric acid, ascorbic acid, colors added (organic black carrot juice concentrate, organic turmeric, organic annatto), natural flavors, confectioner’s glaze, carnauba wax, organic sunflower oil.

    Nutrition (per 31 pieces): 140 calories, 0g fat, 35g carbs, 0g fiber, 32g sugars, 0g protein.*

    Organic Watermelon Rings (vegan)

Leah gave these vibrant pink, sugar-coated vegan gummies a try:

Again, I was really impressed. I’ve never been a fan of fresh watermelon (weird, I know), but I always found artificial watermelon flavor pleasant (even weirder, yep) and these had the perfect artificial watermelon flavor that brought me back to my childhood. I would definitely buy again.

Surf Sweets Gummy Candies and Jelly Beans Reviews and Info - Allergy-friendly, All-natural, Vegan OptionsIngredients: organic cane sugar, organic tapioca syrup, organic tapioca syrup solids, water, organic pear juice concentrate, pectin, contains 1% or less of: citric acid, sodium citrate, organic watermelon flavor, ascorbic acid, colored with carrot and blackcurrant extracts.

    Sour Worms (vegan)

Leah gave the sour worms a try:

After eyeing Surf Sweets Gummy Candy at the store for ages, picking them and putting them back over and over, finally I bought myself a bag of the Sour Worms. It took me so long to finally do it because vegan gummies are pretty rare so I figured they must be hard or impossible to make. I assumed they would just be all wrong. I’m so happy I did too because they’re SO good!

They’re just the right amount of sour and sweet and have a really good chew to them. It’s not quite as chewy as I remember gelatin-based sour worms being, but I was really okay with that. I found that the grapefruit flavor stood out the most out of all the worms and again, I was okay with that. Also I happily discovered that I was completely content just having one or two worms at a time when my sweet tooth hit.

    Gummy Bears (vegan alternative)

The Gummy Bears taste just like, well, gummy bears. Each bear is full of real fruit juice and you can really taste it! Not to mention, they have 100% of your daily recommended Vitamin C. Sweet treats with benefits – I’m in. These are not vegan, but they do offer sugared Organic Fruity Bears, which are.

I run a healthy vending company and I’m looking to find a healthier gummy snacks that sells like crazy. The Kellogg’s fruit snack that I’ve been using no longer meets the healthy guidelines for high schools. Do you guys sell wholesale?
