Sweet Nothings Frozen Smoothies are like Ready-to-Eat Nice Creams

    0
By Alisa Fleming on June 19, 2020 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Dairy-Free Snack Reviews, Product Reviews

There seems to be a trend toward dairy-free, single-serve frozen smoothie products lately. We’ve seen a small surge in nice creams made with bananas, and established brands like Kind and Sambazon have recently hit the freezer section with smoothie bowls. Now, Sweet Nothings Frozen Smoothies hope to find space in this cool niche.

Unlike some of the others, Sweet Nothings Frozen Smoothies are completely free of added sweeteners. They’re also lighter than most, with around 100 calories per smoothie, and come with their own mini spoon for eating on the go.

Sweet Nothings Frozen Smoothies Keep it Nice in 5 Creamy Flavors

Each variety is made with a base of bananas, but they have their own natural flavor flairs. They are shipped and sold frozen, and should be stored in the freezer until a few minutes before you eat them. The company recommends letting them thaw for 2 minutes or so before consuming.

Tried the Rise Coffee flavor: took one bite and was looking for a sink to get rid of it in. Wow! Sour and disgusting. Truly awful experience.

Love that these are healthy but also plant-based! So great for an afternoon snack instead of grabbing a protein bar.

    Salty

I tried two flavors -peanut butter and chocolate and both are overwhelmingly salty. One of the ingredients in both ice creams is sea salt, and that is definitely the most prominent “flavor”. This is not an afternoon pick me up, unless your sodium levels are low.

    Not my favorite

I tried the peanut butter flavor and found it EXTREMELY salty — something that I was definitely not expecting nor did I enjoy in a smoothie. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I will not be buying again.

We got a peanut butter and a chocolate and the chocolate one tasted like unsweetened cocoa powder and the peanut butter did not taste like peanut butter and both left a weird aftertaste. If you are looking for an ice cream alternative this is not it and it’s also expensive. But I can see how some people like it just done expect flavor to taste like what it says

I wasn't sure at first, but ended up liking them

I have to admit, the first bite is a bit of surprise. No matter how much I mentally prepared, my taste buds were expecting straight up indulgence. But these are healthy smoothies frozen. That said, after the initiation taste, I began liking each flavor more with each bite.

The Blueberry Beet was my favorite – which surprised me because I don’t usually like beet in smoothies much. But it was cohesive and delicious. The Peanut Butter and Chocolate flavors were much more grown-up in taste, but again, I really started to like them more as I ate. Like another person said, I wish the PB had more peanut butter. It was more banana than nutty. The Strawberry was okay, but didn’t wow. I’m not a coffee fan, and the Coffee is definitely bold. Not my thing.

The little spoon included is TINY and a little hard to eat with. My husband used a regular spoon when he had them. I kind of liked eating those little bites though, despite the extra work. It made these smaller containers last longer and feel like a heftier snack.

It’s so expensive for so little. I tried three flavors (chocolate, strawberry, and coffee) and they all were unsatisfying. Definitely not worth it!
