Two years ago, I told you about The Honest Stand Cheesy Sauces. They were very well received, but the Denver-based company decided to up their game. Last year, they reformulated and repackaged their four sauces into five dips, and added certifications for organic, vegan, and paleo. We finally go the chance to try The Honest Stand Dairy Free Dips, and I have all details below.
Tasting Notes for The Honest Stand Dairy Free Dips
Honestly, I did a terrible job taking tasting notes. Sometimes we just end up eating. But I can say that they are all quite good. They boast a thick, creamy consistency that thins when heated and sets up when refrigerated. All are very dippable, but also double extremely well as sauces.
Although they are made with a vegetable base, the ingredients in these dips do come together into a relatively cheesy, very thick and creamy sauce. And to my surprise, they don’t contain nutritional yeast!
Garlic Parm Style
This is really garlicky! It’s full of flavor, rich, creamy, and fantastic on pasta.
Ingredients – water, potatoes*, cashews*, onions*, carrots*, vinegar*, sea salt, garlic powder*, natural flavor (*organic). Contains tree nuts.
It wasn’t spot on for nacho cheese, but it does have a pleasant cheesy flavor that we really enjoyed on nachos. The flavor is still a bit spicy, and perhaps a couple notches above what we would call mild. We tried it in a rice dish, but the flavor got a little lost. I think I like this one best as a dip or layer rather than submerged in a recipe.
Ingredients – water, potatoes*, cashews*, carrots*, onions*, tomatoes*, green chiles*, vinegar*, sea salt, jalapeno peppers*, natural flavor, garlic powder* (*organic). Contains tree nuts.
This flavor tasted remarkably like the Mild Nacho. In fact, nearly identical. I began to wonder if Spicy Nacho dip made it into the Mild container! Of course it was still delicious and great on nachos.
Ingredients – water, potatoes*, cashews*, carrots*, onions*, tomatoes*, green chiles*, vinegar*, sea salt, jalapeno peppers*, natural flavor, garlic powder*, red pepper flakes*, cayenne pepper (*organic). Contains tree nuts.
I completely blew it on taking notes for this flavor, but I remember it was a reliable multi-purpose cheesy sauce. It’s similar to the Nacho varieties, but without spice – so it’s good for timid taste buds. We actually had this one on nachos too!
Ingredients – water, potatoes*, cashews*, carrots*, onions*, vinegar*, sea salt, natural flavor, garlic powder (*organic). Contains tree nuts.
Smoked Cheddar Style (Alisa’s Favorite!)
I LOVE this dip! The smoky, cheesy, full-bodied flavor is impossible to resist. I could see using this in pasta or rice, or as a dip for potato wedges and other veggies. It really made my favorite vegetable, steamed broccoli, taste amazing.
Ingredients – water, potatoes*, cashews*, carrots*, onions*, vinegar*, sea salt, natural flavor, garlic powder* (*organic). Contains tree nuts.
