Toom Garlic Dips Take Lebanese Inspiration to Flavorful Heights

0

At Expo West two years ago, I spotted Toom Garlic Dips upstairs in the section for innovative newer food companies. With “dairy-free” proudly displayed on their sign and product, we simply had to stop in for a quick sample. And I was immediately smitten. So we got a hold of all four flavors to give them a full taste test.

I didn’t post about Toom Garlic Dips sooner because the founder, Matt, said they were still waiting on distribution. But they are starting to gain steam now, so it seemed like a good time to share the details on this product line. Please note that they have changed their image slightly. The subtitle now says “Lebanese Garlic Dip,” and the packaging materials have changed slightly, but it’s still similar to these images.

Toom Dips (Review) - Amazing Dairy-free, Gluten-free Flavor in Original Garlic, Pesto, Buffalo, and Honey Chipotle

Toom Garlic Dips Take Lebanese Inspiration to Flavorful Heights

These creamy dips are an emulsion of oil and garlic. I have tried a garlic spread from Europe, and was expecting a similar experience. But these are creamier, less oily, not as pungently garlic, and have more intriguing flavors. The tubs are somewhat sizable, but the dips last quite a while in the refrigerator, which is great for smaller households. If you get the chance to try any of these flavors, be sure to leave your own review and rating below!

Please note that Toom Garlic Dips are dairy-free and gluten-free, but not vegan. They contain a touch of egg white powder. If you confuse eggs with dairy, you’re not alone! See this post: Are Eggs Dairy?

Original

Creamy, flavorful, and much more tangy than I expected. Not overly garlic, and very versatile.

Pesto

They said they are changing the name to basil, but I hope they don’t. It really does taste like a creamy pesto-flavored dip, even without the nuts and cheese! Positively delicious, full-flavored, and tied for my first place favorite. It’s excellent in pasta, rice, and on toast.

Buffalo

Tied for first. I love the slightly warm heat of this one that emerges a touch more in the aftertaste. It has a bold yet pleasant “hot wing” flavor that isn’t overly spicy. It’s also quite versatile, but does shine as a dip or spread.

Toom Dips (Review) - Amazing Dairy-free, Gluten-free Flavor in Original Garlic, Pesto, Buffalo, and Honey ChipotleIngredients: non-gmo canola oil, fresh garlic cloves, water, hot sauce (cayenne red peppers, vinegar, natural flavor, garlic powder), maltodextrin (corn), lemon juice powder, sea salt, citric acid, egg white powder. Contains eggs.

Chipotle Honey

It isn’t notably sweet, like the name implies. But I think the dash of honey balances the sharp chipotle flavor. In fact it still has 0 grams of sugar. I like this one, too – it’s very rich in flavor. But it was a little too spicy for my timid taste buds. The chipotle adds a real punch of flavor and heat that lingers in the aftertaste.
