Van Leeuwen Oat Milk Ice Cream Pints Roll out in 7 Artisan Flavors

    0
By Alisa Fleming on February 17, 2020 Dairy-Free Ice Cream Reviews, Product Reviews

Have you heard of the artisan ice cream shop Van Leeuwen? They started with a simple ice cream truck in Brooklyn back in 2008. But they now occupy dozens of shops across New York and L.A., and even have their own lines of ice cream pints on store shelves. Their original flavors were all dairy based, but thanks to the release of Van Leeuwen Oat Milk Ice Cream, this company is now dairy-free heavy. It joins their classic vegan collection, and brings their vegan ice cream flavor count up to 18 (13 are made with dairy).

Van Leeuwen has been testing vegan oat milk ice cream in their shops for a little while, and they launched the pints online late last year. But now they are in distribution to grocery stores across the U.S. In addition to their core line, they’ve started producing seasonal oat milk pints. Those are also included below.

Van Leeuwen does make dairy ice cream, too. According to a representative, “Van Leeuwen takes great precaution to not create cross-contamination in their products.” And the oat milk ice cream line was created specifically to cater to those with nut allergies, or who don’t consume nuts. But as always, contact the company directly to discuss their allergen protocols and assess if their products are safe for your needs.

    Very coconut flavored

    Rated 3 out of 5
    July 1, 2021

I just tried the brownie sundae raspberry swirl and could swear it’s full of coconut shreds. I just wasn’t expecting such a strong coconut flavor when it wasn’t highlighted in the description. Still nice to have a vegan / GF option, and I will still eat it, but I am slightly disappointed by expectation vs. reality.

This non dairy frozen dessert is the best we’ve ever tasted. The flavors are terrific and the desserts are creamy, unlike others. Highly recommended for anyone including carnivores.
