I seriously can’t keep up with Vega. Their protein powders seem to change every year in some way – new packaging, new name, new formula, new lines. Vega Protein Smoothies are one of their protein powder lines that have stuck around, and in the same basic flavors. But they’ve had several name changes (previously called Shake & Go Smoothies, Energizing Smoothies …), ingredient changes, and different looks over the past decade. This is the latest … I hope it doesn’t change too soon!
Vega Protein Smoothies are Powerful Plant-Based Powders
Despite the fact that it comes in an “Unsweetened” variety, all of the Vega Protein Smoothies are very low in sugar, and close to sugar-free. They also have a standardized 15 grams of protein per serving and are enriched with veggies. Once you’ve tried them, feel free to leave your own rating and review below!

I love all things Vega. Complete nutrition, vegan and natural ingredients. Thank you Brendan Brazier for the inspiration and great products.
After trying Shakeology and having an allergic reaction to it, I found Vega. All of their shakes are amazing. Nutritionally dense, tasty, filling, low calorie, and inexpensive in comparison to Vega’s competitors. Highly recommended! The all-in-one shakes are great for breakfast on the go!
I love these! I’ve been wanting to try the choc-o-lat and viva vanilla, but the Oh Natural is perfect for baking or in smoothies.
I love vega smoothies! The are super rich in nutrients. Originally I found the products quite earthy, but I had been using chemical laden products. Now I am hooked. I can’t imagine using my old products again.
I actually JUST tried the Choc-a-lot smoothie packet this morning after my run! I picked up the packet at Whole Foods while grocery shopping and thought it not only sounded good but was actually good for me! I’m vegan and training for my first half-marathon and will without a doubt be buying more flavors! Thanks Vega!

I agree that the Vega powders are very good at masking all of the nutrition. The first time I tried them I had to double-check the label and make sure there wasn’t a bunch of added sugar! Morning smoothies are made awesome by this stuff.
I love Vega shakes. Such a great healthy breakfast and also works great while nursing my little one!
I love Vega products. I have recently tried the Bodacious Berry flavour and really like it. I blend it up with fresh or frozen berries and either water or almond milk for a post workout boost of protein! Delish!
Pingback: Vega One Nutrition Bar Review - Go Dairy Free
I saw these at Whole Foods the other day, would you happen to know if they are peanut and tree nut free?
To the best of my knowledge, they are by ingredients, but if allergies are a concern then you really should check the packaging specifically and contact the company directly to inquire about manufacturing processes!
Would I use these as added protein to smoothies? How much will they alter the taste? I’m currently not adding any protein powder to my smoothies since I am new to dairy free. Just wondering how they will change the taste of a smoothie recipe.
Hi Jill, I try to explain the flavor as much as possible in the review. The Plain one one change the taste the least, just adding a hint of sweetness. The others are definite flavors. As for the texture, most protein powders are a bit, for lack of a better word, powdery. And this can come across in smoothies. I find the Vega to be one of the least powdery of the protein powders. This is more of a “meal replacement” or supplement in that it does add protein (some other types do have more protein) but it also has some added supplements for additional nutrition. Vega has an extensive dairy-free product line, this is just one of the options.
This produce is absolutely awesome. I purchase my Vega at Whole Foods and it has become my #1 breakfast. Love it, love it, love it.
