Special Diet Notes: Blueberry Blast Smoothie

Go Dairy Free - The Guide and Cookbook for Milk Allergies, Lactose Intolerance and Casein-Free LivingBy ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, grain-free, nut-free, peanut-free, soy-free, vegan / plant-based, vegetarian, and generally top food allergy-friendly.

Flax Note: The original recipe for this blueberry blast smoothie contained 1/2 cup flaxseed, or 1/4 cup per serving. Since this amount of flax can cause digestive upset for many who don’t regularly consume lots of flaxseed (and some are concerned regarding studies of high flax consumption), I reduced the amount to a more standard serving size. Note that you can also substitute the flaxseeds with chia seeds, which are also high in omega 3’s plus calcium.

Another good one! I wasn’t expecting grapefruit as an ingredient. Intrigued by that. Love the name!
