Special Diet Notes: Hearty Granola

- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup oat bran
- 1 cup wheat flakes (may use more rolled oats if you can't find wheat flakes)
- ½ cup wheat germ or ground flax seed
- ½ cup sliced or chopped almonds
- ⅓ cup raisins
- ⅓ cup chopped dried apple or prune
- ⅓ cup honey
- ⅓ cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat the oven to 300F.
- Combine all ingredients before honey.
- In a smaller bowl combine honey, water, and vanilla.
- Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients and mix well.
- Spread in a 13x9 in baking dish.
- Bake for 40-50 min or until golden brown, stirring occasionally
