What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than a sweet cherry recipe! This cherry smoothie is a new favorite in my home. But it wasn’t just the changing of the seasons that prompted me to whip it up.
The Allergic Living Spring Issue will be arriving in mailboxes and hitting Whole Food’s shelves in a matter of days. And within that in-depth magazine, you’ll find my latest column with some delicious top allergen-free bakeshop recipe surprises. A hint: one of the recipes uses pure, sweet cherry juice. The same juice that I use in this cherry smoothie recipe.
I’m in love with the wonderful 100% sweet or black cherry juice that you can buy from Knudsen, Lakewood or like me, at Trader Joe’s! It adds so much flavor to recipes, and a little goes quite far. In fact, I had enough juice leftover from my Allergic Living recipe tests to create this intensely cherry smoothie. It’s a healthy blend that I make quite thick for a creamy, shake-like experience. Nonetheless, you can thin it with more delicious cherry juice for a more sippable smoothie.
But what makes this a very cherry smoothie is the double dose of fruit. Beyond the juice, I’ve included frozen dark sweet cherries. I also buy those at Trader Joe’s, but have seen different brands at other grocers, too.

This looks so yummy! I think it would be great with the mango/cherry combo!
Yes indeed, mango-cherry is one of my favorite flavor pairings. It’s a seamless swap for the banana.
Smooooothies!! <3 Smoothies are definitely one of my go to snacks of choice! So full of nutrients and literally any reason to incorporate cherries is amazing in my eyes. This looks great!
Glad I won you over Kristina 🙂
This sounds so good. I love cherries! Can’t wait to get some fresh ones to snack on this summer. I always buy the frozen ones from Trader Joe’s too. Loving all the other goodies you put in this smoothie too!! Yum!
Isn’t TJ’s amazing? Several times now, my husband and I have picked where we wanted to live based on accessibility to a Trader Joe’s 🙂
Mmm smoothies are my favorite in the mornings and I’m loving the added chia seeds! 🙂
I love cherry juice!! The color of this is just too gorgeous!
Sounds like a great way to celebrate to me! I’m intrigued by this combo and can’t wait to try it, hopefully this week.
I hope you do get the chance to enjoy it Sarah!
Hooray for cherry season. I’ll have to look for them in the freezer section. And love anything with sunflower seed butter. It must add a nice creaminess.
It does add just enough creaminess to keep it from being too slushy. Not that slushies are a bad thing 🙂
I bet this tastes amazing. When I think of frozen and cherry it harkens back to slushy days. This on the other hand is a health adult version.
Yep, but honestly, I would have preferred this as a kid!
Those straws are too cute! Such a perfect match for this gorgeous smoothie too. Happy spring!
This looks amazing! I HAVE to make this soon! I think I have all the ingredients on hand, too! I love everything you do, great work!
Cherries always make for such a deeply flavored smoothie!
