Dairy-Free Low-Fat Ranch Dressing and Dip

    1
By Alisa Fleming on May 25, 2014 Appetizers, Condiments and Salad Dressings, Dairy-Free Recipes, Sauces

Nothing beats classic dairy-free ranch dressing, but this dairy-free low-fat ranch dressing is a delicious option when you need something lighter. It was an entry in a recipe contest that we cohosted, and was created and submitted by Moriah Geller.

Lighten Up with this Dairy-Free Low-Fat Ranch Dressing

Moriah blends dairy-free yogurt with just a touch of mayonnaise to maintain the natural creaminess of this popular condiment while trimming the fat and calories. Her recipe is also a small batch, so you can enjoy it fresh! But I do have a few quick notes to answer some FAQs.

How Much Salt Do You Recommend?

Personally, I think either garlic salt, salt, or garlic powder + salt works great. We’ve tried this recipe, and I don’t think both garlic salt and salt are needed. I would sprinkle in just a little garlic salt, to taste, or add a dash of garlic powder + a pinch of salt.

    Can I Use Fresh Dill?

Yes, in fact it’s encouraged! Go ahead and use 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of fresh dill in place of the dried if you have it.

Can I Make a Larger Batch of this Dairy-Free Low-Fat Ranch Dressing?

You definitely can. Simply double, triple, or quadruple the ingredients. You can buy a large tub of So Delicious unsweetened yogurt or similar brand if needed. We’ve added a large batch option to the recipe.

    Does this Dressing Contain Probiotics?

As long as the dairy-free yogurt you’re using contains live and active probiotics, this dairy-free low-fat ranch dressing will too! It isn’t heated, so the good bacteria are preserved.

How Long does this Dairy-Free Low-Fat Ranch Dressing?

As long as your dairy-free yogurt is fresh, it will keep for up to 1 week in the refrigerator. Store it in an airtight container or jar.

This healthy dressing uses a base of dairy-free yogurt with just a touch of mayonnaise to make it smooth and rich. It's on the tangy side. You can reduce the lemon juice, to taste, if you prefer it less tangy.
    Author: Moriah Geller
    Recipe type: Salad
    Cuisine: American
    Serves: 2 servings
    Ingredients
    • ¼ cup plain coconut milk yogurt (Moriah uses So Delicious unsweetened)
    • ¼ teaspoon dried dill
    • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 tablespoon regular or vegan mayonnaise
    • Garlic salt, to taste
    • Salt, to taste
    • Black pepper, to taste
    Instructions
    1. In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, dill, onion, lemon juice and mayo.
    2. Whisk in garlic salt, salt and pepper, as desired.
    Notes
Large Batch Option: In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup unsweetened plain coconut milk yogurt, ¼ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon dill, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ¼ teaspoon garlic powder, ⅛ teaspoon salt, and black pepper, to taste. This makes about 1½ cups or 8 servings (3 tablespoons each).
